Here are some new images with varying resolution of the multiplayer mode from the tactical videogame Gears of War 2 scheduled for November 2008. Some of the heroes look like characters from Too Human. The atmosphere seems to be in place.
Update: These images were scans and have been removed.

Loved GOW1 and iam 100% sure i will love this, i still play GOW1 online to this day lol

3) every gameing site that has seen this demo in action has stated that it looks better than GOW1 and GOW1 is an amazing looking game even now.

4) at this stage its only 65% complete and we all know effects and shine will be added in latter stages of dev.

This will def be my GOTY this year, i can feel it. From all the amazing additions to multiplayer and the stuff we know so far from single player, and cliffy stating theres so much more to come, i truely cant wait!

Gears of war online is one of the most intense, brutal, sadistic, satisfying and even frustrating from host issues ever.. You play this game online, and it is just amazing, grenade tagging, headshots that never EVER get tiring, curb stomps, the whole pick your team mate aspect, strategic elements of flanking, torque bows, the amount of bitching and whinning people do when they get owned..just sweet..just..friggin sweet

dude, gears is nothing until you played it online..and to be honest, noone is waiting really for the single player side of gears of war 2..everyone who is a fan of gears is lookng forward to the online multiplayer

i just don't know why it is awesome, it just is..must the 3rd person perspective, the great graphic or the amazing animation, bodies dropping when you pop a head, i dunno..just is another level online

unless you experience the online side of gears for what it is..shit, you can't say nothing about this game. Just like we say to players who ain't used to the online side, you're a n00b and this ain't your halo, son!

I have to disagree with you on that one. The reason GeoW was awesome was co-op, not its online multiplayer modes. Nothing beat playing with a group of friends on Insane and fighting for your lives while your other friends cheered at all the gore and chainsaw kills. Very few people play GeoW Online any more; recently popped in the game and found very few games online. The multiplayer component felt a bit rushed (it was rushed) and got extremely repetitive at times (especially when everyone kept rushing for a common choke point, wiping out all but two of the players within two minutes, over and over again) but according to the EGM preview, they are addressing the issues from GeoW online and hopefully fixing them for the multiplayer in GeoW 2.

According to the EGM preview, they added limited environment destruction (they wanted to maintain flanking gameplay mechanics and didn't want people to try to see who destroyed cover the fastest) and added some extra detail to the levels like vegetation and newspapers,etc. They also tweaked the lighting a bit.

looks amazing, I can't wait. I wish they could uprez the textures a bit though, their armor looks lower rez than the first gears to me....maybe I need to go back and play it...

As for it being repetetive (the first one) I think its one of the best paced games I have played. I have played it through 5 or 6 times.

He's a troll ignore him. And, considering this game has been in development for only 2 years since the last Gears says a lot! Such a short time, and such an improvement over its predecessor. Hey, at least we don't have to wait 4-5 years for one game to come out. ;) Gears 3 by 2010. :D

Again, its MP! Urgh, for a MP game it looks fantastic. And the textures are by far the best looking ever.

And I'm shocked there are people out there who don't like the gameplay. You know tastes differ, GoW is no exception.

GoW 2 will be my personal GOTY. The first was for me like Halo 2 for the Xbox, no matter which game came out the recent years I always kept coming back to GoW, even when the (imo) disappointing Halo 3 came out. And it looks like Epic are taking the online department to a whole new level, GoW was very inaccessable for beginners, especially the whole party system was rubbish. With the second this seems to be taken care of. Can't wait!

What should it have done? It's combat was pretty much spot on, and breaking up the "repetition" with stealth or some other kind of gameplay element really wouldn't have added much.

It was repetitious, (go into room, kill Locusts, travel to next room, repeat), but it worked for quite a few people, though not for everyone. And the game did try to break up the gameplay with the vehicle segment of the game, the worst part of the game IMO.

there were baddas now there just sissy ,i mean the guys are 2 by 2 meters and got big ass guns,and now there using a shield a fucking shield.
it doesnt even fit the game ,i looks so out of place.

Gears 1 was a brilliant game. On a HDTV it's still one of the best looking games out there, even after 1,5 years. The only thing about Gears 1 I didn't like was the Single-Player mode. But it seems like they're fixing it for Gears 2, which in that case makes it perfect.
