Not only Yoda (Xbox 360) and Darth Vader (Playstation 3) will join the roster of Soul Calibur IV, but also the secret apprentice from Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. All is missing is the legendary Boba Fett now! In fact, I was hoping for Jango Fett. The unveiling is done through some images and even a trailer.

How many new characters are there here that fit into the Soul Calibur universe? Maybe two? Hilde is the only newly revealed character that even strikes me as having been designed to fit in this world by the team of designers that are actually making this game. What do we know about the new game mechanics--moves--arenas? Practically nothing.
Nearly all of the hype that Namco is generating for SC4 revolves around marketing gimmicks. It's disappointing. It's sort of like how the hype and marketing for Soul Calibur 3 was based almost exclusively around useless features, like the create-a-fighter mode, which has no real place in a balanced, tournament ready fighting game. And perhaps as a direct correlation to the time and efforts spent on such gimmicks, the game suffered immensely and we were left with what is easily the worst game in the series.
Frankly, it's easy to see how and why Soul Calibur fans would be disturbed, and worried about the direction of the franchise after Soul Calibur 3.. and this.. is not settling those fears one bit.
I'm still looking forward to the game though. I'm one of the few people out there who will defend Soul Calibur 3, as broken as it was. Cassy (That's Cassandra, she's a Soul Calibur character™) is just too damn cool in SC3 to not appreciate what they tried to do.

Mhh... Xenosaga is not too far away from star wars, is it? So they had some kind of this in the last game too. ^^;

Commented on 2008-06-08 21:42:51 In reply to GriftGFXi mean its a really easy sleazy way to get your game selling and hyping up a whiteout showing what it has really to offer as the game itself(except characters whit a fan-base over the thousands).
