Xbox 360 PS3

Not only Yoda (Xbox 360) and Darth Vader (Playstation 3) will join the roster of Soul Calibur IV, but also the secret apprentice from Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. All is missing is the legendary Boba Fett now! In fact, I was hoping for Jango Fett. The unveiling is done through some images and even a trailer.

why the f didn't they do a full starwars fighting game ...
The PS1 game was lame, there is room for one with good gameplay.

That would be great IMO.

it seems like an odd mixture, but one i am happy to see. When i think lightsabre though it has to cut and melt things. No go, but still fun.

Starkiller. And he actually has a real name, but it hasn't been revealed, due to it being a major plot element. (His parents, or at least father is an existing Star Wars character). He's supposed to be a very important character for Darth Vader's story and not only is he the main character in the Force Unleashed game, but he's more than likely to appear in the live action series, if they ever get round to making it. (they didn't get real actors for no reason).

Not exactly surprising that they're trying to hype him up now.

Why are they making Star Wars: Force Unleashed to be this big ass thing? I even see action figures for it already, and it's a damn video game.

Can I get Asaaj Ventris, at least.

Maybe the Star Wars characters in SC4 are like their "audition" for Lucasarts and they'll get to make a Star Wars duel 'em up if George likes this?

Like Shadows Of The Empire and The Clone Wars shows and movie The Force Unleashed is officially canon so it's a big deal story wise as part of the Star Wars Universe.

No, this is ingame advertising at its BEST. The worst would be flashing billboards for AXE in all the areans.
This game might as well have playable Axe dispensers, it wouldn't be a big stretch from where they're headed. Billboards in some games are actually less offensive to my senses than this. Take PGR for example--it's seamless and it fits the environment--unlike Yoda and Vader's new pet.

You're aware that there have been ACTUAL ADVERTISMENT characters in games before like Pepsiman in Fighting Vipers on the Saturn, aren't you? I didn't hear any complaints back then. It's just for fun and how could anyone other than a total Star Wars hater have any problem with bonus Star Wars characters in a weapons based fighting game?? I'm far from a Star Wars hater, I'm actually a big fan. The thing is, I'm also a huge Soul Calibur fan, so I can recognize that these are different worlds and still be relatively disgusted by this kind of marketing. It's not just for fun, it's just to sell this game to people who wouldn't want it otherwise. I'm looking forward to Force Unleashed--I'm hopeful that Bioware is actually making the next Star Wars MMORPG (I loved SWG when it didn't suck)--and I still have Jedi Academy installed on my PC.

And honestly, the main source of my complaint is how they've practically managed to avoid talking about the game at all. How many new characters are there here that fit into the Soul Calibur universe? Maybe two? Hilde is the only newly revealed character that even strikes me as having been designed to fit in this world by the team of designers that are actually making this game. What do we know about the new game mechanics--moves--arenas? Practically nothing.

Nearly all of the hype that Namco is generating for SC4 revolves around marketing gimmicks. It's disappointing. It's sort of like how the hype and marketing for Soul Calibur 3 was based almost exclusively around useless features, like the create-a-fighter mode, which has no real place in a balanced, tournament ready fighting game. And perhaps as a direct correlation to the time and efforts spent on such gimmicks, the game suffered immensely and we were left with what is easily the worst game in the series.

Frankly, it's easy to see how and why Soul Calibur fans would be disturbed, and worried about the direction of the franchise after Soul Calibur 3.. and this.. is not settling those fears one bit.

I'm still looking forward to the game though. I'm one of the few people out there who will defend Soul Calibur 3, as broken as it was. Cassy (That's Cassandra, she's a Soul Calibur character™) is just too damn cool in SC3 to not appreciate what they tried to do.

lol don't badmouth everything... I think it's a cool feature, as long as they don't disregard the rest of the game...
However... I would like it more to have KOS-MOS in this game again

Mhh... Xenosaga is not too far away from star wars, is it? So they had some kind of this in the last game too. ^^;

It won't have online play though which is kind of a bummer. It's still the best Soul Calibur though

Why shouldn't marketing bother me when it actually becomes part of the game itself? People complain about in-game advertising all the freaking time. This is in game advertising at its worst.
indeed maybe they could put naruto in the game(it has a really huge fan-base).

i mean its a really easy sleazy way to get your game selling and hyping up a whiteout showing what it has really to offer as the game itself(except characters whit a fan-base over the thousands).
