Now that most of the fans have completed Metal Gear Solid 4 from head to toe and know all the dialogues by heart, it's time to please ourselves with gameplay videos showcasing the best moments of this already classic fourth and last episode of the Metal Gear Solid saga. More details after the jump.
For today's clips, let's begin with the impressive bike chase of Act 3 - Snake shooting ennemies in bullet-time while riding his mama's Harley is a quite priceless sequence. I don't play very well at the beginning, but it goes better after that.
Second video, the arrival at Shadow Moses nine years after the events of Metal Gear Solid. A nice sequence that should revive the memories and nostlagia of the most hardcore fans.
Third clip, the full infiltration scene of the Outer Heaven deck, performed without a kill nor alarm. Not as easy as it looks !
And finally, the fourth video immortalizes the final fight of the game, a bare-hand duel under the sun concluding the Metal Gear Solid saga in sweat, blood and old men groanings.
More videos will follow later, don't hesitate to write suggestions in the comments if you'd like to see a specific part of the game. Enjoy !

Commented on 2008-06-19 23:09:07 In reply to vegettossj5Graphics are ok, gameplay looks average at best. Atmosphere is well done and I'm sure the game has a great story...but that won't pull me over. It does seem to show some more variation than I initially thought, but it just looks too awkward and dated. I'm trying to like this game so I can finally get something worthwile for my PS3, but it's just not all that appealing imo. I'm sure people think it's a great game (for whatever reasons that may be), but it doesn't take aways that Lebato's points are absolutely valid. Even though it's not the general public's opinion.

Commented on 2008-06-19 23:28:261. If you have a spare set of usb keyboard and mouse hanging around, can you tell me what MGS controls like with Keyboard and mouse?
2. What's your final rank when the game ends? I've seen what it takes to get the highest rank and it's quite a hard thing to do(zero kills, less than a certain amount of time to beat).
Commented on 2008-06-19 23:35:46anyway: the gameplay owns, its a great mix between realism and fiction (and the fiction still seems "real" for the most part), the graphics are ultra atmospheric and sometimes even technically quite stunning...
I understand if someone wont buy a ps3 just because of that game, but if you dont like the system, stop flaming in every gaming thread that concerns the ps3... (or the 360 on the other hand) It's just plain childish and stupid...
And yes, I own a PS3 and owned a 360 ( I didnt buy a new one after the 5th RoD)
both consoles are really cool and anyone who owns one can be happy, that's it...
P.S.: comparing a console game with crysis, geez, you can be sure that the cryengine2 won't look as good on any console as on a highend pc rig in ultra high settings, but IF you compare it, dont just compare the grafical effects but the atmosphere, the gameplay AND of course the story aswell. In none of these but the grafics (in ultra high) crysis can compete with mgs4 or many other console games ( on both systems), it just is a (fuckin damn) nice grafics demo for fast pc's (and I finished it 4 times now)...
don't be offended, be nice to each other, and be happy that we all love games :P

Commented on 2008-06-20 02:20:41 In reply to dasrtist85Fanboys get all crazy on me but I've said very similar things to many other games, including Splinter Cell Double Agent which I OWN and others like Pro Evolution Soccer. Praise where praise is due and criticism where criticism is due. Of course it's not greatly noticed because fanboys are not going to get defensive about a multiplatform title or an "exclusive". In fact, when I said that the graphics in Halo 3 were a huge disappointment and pointed out all the problems, Halo fanboys got upset.
But whatever, that's how it works I guess. Tell the truth and fanboys get upset. And I'm not calling you a fanboy, but fanboys are getting very upset, in fact, one of them told me "you stupid comments!" lol
Commented on 2008-06-20 02:21:49And I still stand by my comment on the cutscenes. There are some amazing ones, but there are others that are just drawn out for too long with characters just rambling on and on. How some reviewers skip this part of the cutscenes and go on to only praise the good ones is beyond me.

All 4. Enjoy. If anyone else views this and doesn't have any clue as to what's going on, well, playing the game will help.
Commented on 2008-06-20 08:12:53unless of course im missing the revolutionary part in those videos?
journalists did a great disservice to gamers by hyping this game to heaven. these videos look like very basic gameplay wise. ive been sneaking around stupid enemies since splinter cell 1 on xbox 1.
now im not saying the game looks bad (lord knows i loves me some stealth), i'm just saying this looks like every other stealth game gameplay wise.
Commented on 2008-06-20 08:12:54True Crime: Streets of NY was a much better looking and featuristic game than GTA: SA in the last gen, but it was totally inconsistent, while GTA: SA was executed to such a perfection that it made an impact and still holds it in its genre.
What MGS4 stands at is the perfect marriage of movie-like story-telling and interactive entertainment... something that even Mass Effect tried but fell into long spans of boredom. I will buy it no doubt when it comes to PS3, but to that end... MGS4 takes the crown with about 30 hours of gameplay and stunning cinema achievement. I haven't seen a single game that focuses THIS much on character development... just watch the 4th clip, you'll know, but its just a single one... You need to experience this game to actually know what everybody means.
Commented on 2008-06-20 08:30:24The water in this game is STUNNING, you NEED to see that, its totally interactive and simulated... how textures from each environment blend onto octo-camo, and then can be saved to be utilized lated, is another story... the interactivity with vegetation is a blast to see too, so that's basically that stuff which makes real-world stuff come alive into a game which primarily focuses on story-telling.
