Microsoft released a whole new bunch of Gears of War 2 images and artworks. The first part is up, with more coming when I'm done downloading them. Update 2: Everything's up.
Amazing screens, and i cant wait to take on the rock worms and Kantus monks who will be raising the dead locust all around you, while you and your mates in coop lay the smackdown on the candy asses! :)

wtf is wrong with you people, last time i checked there is more than graphics to a game... the engine has destructable environments now walls etc, the f*cking enemys can be numbered in the 100's on screen at once instead of the 4-5 as before...
how in gods name is that a "lack of improvement"

optimizing entails framerate, from what i recall Gears1 didnt really have framerate issues when i play, and also gears 2 is said to have even bumped that up further.
What f*cking game looks as good as the doctored screens... let me guess MGS4? ya whatever, atleast in gears when you run past an enemy he moves to counter and follow you attacking, in MGS you can run circles around the AI... and its completely generic except for the great cinematics, but i bought a GAME not a MOVIE...
bioshock was great, but bioshock didnt have 100+ enemys capable of being on screen at once either.

Anyhow, looks good, will play good, for those who like the series, must buy.
Heck im playing gears again... on PC this time.
I will say, besides Crysis, which is in a league of its own, this game can hold its ground vs anything.

he doesnt really. the first footage of gears 2 showed vast armies of locust on the ground, yet not a single one of them was shootable. they where false enemies, a background, and cliffy B has already said thats how its going to be throughout the game. they're just going to be background noise. to make the battle "seem" more epic, when in fact, there is still only 4-5 enemies with AI on screen at any one time.
as for the destruction...its not exactly full dynamic destruction is it. its not even at the level of bad company, and that managed to look better then this. the game look good, dont get me wrong. but it doesnt look amazing.
i have absoultely no honest explenation for the this looking no better than gears 1 comment..seriously, how can anyone look at the gears 1 pics, and then gears 2 pics and not see the improvement in texture detail, lighting, and overall density. Gears 2 looks much better than gear1, and the footage also shows it, plus smaller details like the trees moving in the wind...i think ill just ignore these comments completely...

Seriously just watch the new 1up video, GoW2 is at least as big improvement over GoW1 as Resistance 2 is over Resistance 1 and I don't see you complaining in the other news thread.

Honestly this game along with the first doesn't look nearly as good as people make it out to be. All of the characters and enemies look really nice in renders, but the gameplay shots look very subpar.

i've seen all the footage there is to see, there is no improvement. and if there is its bearly visible. you only have to look at the poly model of the characters to see that (check the artwork of the guy holding the shield)
i mean, ignoring the blatant bullshots, just look at gridlock. apart from the change in colour pallent and a change up of some textures. its all the same. texture res, and poly count are identical. as are the aliasing issues.
but i'll leave it at that. i've made my feelings known about the game. no need to go on and on about it. im sure the game will be great for the fans. but it lacks that graphical overhaul a sequal should have imo. you expect to see at least something, and sadly i dont see anything
