Page << 1 2And I did just go back and look at some FFX screenshots. Damn that game still looks nice even by today's standards. I take it back alright. FFX in high resolution would blow this game out of the water.

looked so good on footage & video.
Why did i ever bought the bonus DVD version ( much more expensive tha the platinum), the frickin low-res textures, the utter horrible lip-synch and ALL THE TIME jumpy animation.
A fine Piece of crap game technically.
Some nice vistas, though.
Last I checked this game's got just as much spikey hair and belt buckles as any JRPG and THAT'S why it's generic.
Next you can explain how the outfits are generic when they pull more from mythos than the standard FF suit with buckles fare. At least these outfits are elaborate in the right way.

For me this game is one of the most interesting titles this year and SO4 the next :)
Graphically it looks also very very stunning, I'm not so sure what other games you compare to but this looks really good? What part of it does look so bad? I don't understand this at all.
Ha ha ha ha aha ha ha... Worst stealth grahics on a game ever.

What's so hard to understand? I look at the images, and personally I don't care for the art direction. Everything's blocky and the architecture is derivitive. The game doesn't look like it has a single thread of original style running through it. The videos also show that the game doesn't look any better (and usually worse) in motion, using an animation system that seems like it was copied and pasted from a PS2 JRPG.
The argument, which wasn't put forth by me to begin with, was that the game doesn't have spikey hair and belt buckles. Well, I see in every character screenshot and artwork an abundance of spiked hair and a good number of belts. And the design is generic due to those two factors PLUS the fact that none of it is interesting. The screens show a big guy in a wife beater with a giant axe, and belt buckles. *Yaaawn*. And don't even get me started on the plain-Jane main character.

Sounds to me that you don't like the JRPG genre at all, much of what you dislike about the art style in this or any JRPG are common place (generic), its what we have come to expect from the genre.
Your arguement is like wanting to watch an Anime only to be annoyed that the characters have big eyes, brightly coloured hair and females with large breasts.
The design might not be exceptional but that’s to expect of a game that is loosely going along with a fantasy medieval setting and architecture from Europe which we’ve seen quite a few times by now.
I think it is rock solid, except these two kids who might be a bit more creative but ugly.
I wouldn’t worry about art and graphics, it’s looking good enough, but about gameplay mechanisms, characters and story.

You can actually be annoyed by the art style even if you like story and characters because there are various art styles and they do not have to meet your preferences. Saying that all Animes look alike is ignorant.

Let me be more simple, Why even complain about a JRPG's art style when you know that the chances of it being generic are going to be high, obviously the word generic being used to discribe something that is similar to provious games art style.
JRPG's art is derived from manga, anime and japanese culture after all.
And I never said all animes look alike but there is no denying that many of them have similar art styles and cliches.

The 'blockyness' is clearly from earlier builds, since it's not present in all the shots. Once they turn on the final post-processing filters, those should look nicely. It was the same with VP2.
Sure, sure it does.
There is always one villianous woman
Great screens :)
What about Sephiroth? :P
Great screens :)
