Why? I loved Oblivion, still up with the very best games i've played, If its like Oblivion it will be an Instant purchase for me.
That's a big concern right now, in the hardcore Fallout-series fanbase, is whether or not Fallout 3 will be just exactly the same gameplay as Oblivion, with a few stylistic change-ups. It's understandable that people would want a game that remains more-or-less faithful to the Fallout series in terms of the core gameplay mechanics.

Well said.

I hope they have that Fallout feel in this when playing. Oh yeah and now that skill window looks better :)

Absolutely no offense to Gamersyde, but it did seem a tad unprofessional using "shitload" in the description. Reading it on the front page of the site made me double take a little bit. :)
They also used the word "time" in the description. Whats the difference?
Oh wait, you mean because the word "shit" is supposed to be socially nasty? Yes, lets adopt whatever global censorship the media throws at us and tells us to agree with, and not use our own brains to realize that there is really no difference at all between words.
They are just words.

Bwahahaha i just found an awesome thing in the faq : "You can also pick your hair style and color. There are not scars or tattoos you can pick. But, there are beards. And not just any beards. We have them all. We have the most ridiculous list of beards in any game, ever. One of our artists went crazy with beards and didn't stop. We've joked about making a prerelease video of "the beards of Fallout 3"

Best. Facial. Hair. EVER.

Blaagh! "In regards to essential NPCs, it works like Oblivion, in that when they "die" they get knocked "unconscious" and get up a little while later. It worked well in Oblivion"

NO IT DID NOT WORK WELL IN OBLIVION. They're doing all the important things wrong, just like everyone feared. Bye bye immersion.

Yes we all loved those quests that we couldn't finish because the npc's died (sometimes before you even met them). Oh wait, no we didn't...

It worked perfectly, most quest npc's became "mortal" one you completed the quest they where essential for if you really felt a need to kill them.
Not being able to permanently ruin your chances of completing a quest is a good thing, unless you enjoy broken games that is.....

I enjoy well designed games that do not need to be artificially limited like this (see Fallout series). And even in the endgame there were plenty of immortals in Oblivion associated with some trivial sidequest. Yeah... great work indeed.

Is there a character that must not die in order to get through the main quest? Then Game Over if you or something else kills him, but this is just the kind of stupid limited game design I had hoped they didn't bring into the Fallout series.

And I'm not trying to start up anything here, I'm just disappointed like probably most other fans of the series. What made Fallout (2 especially) the best RPG ever, was that you knew what you probably shouldn't be doing (because the world would react to your deeds, sometimes very strongly), but the game didn't try artificially to stop you from doing it. If you have important characters in the game, aren't they that much more important if they're not going to be around forever? It's just bad game design if you can't figure out how to do stuff without immortal characters and it takes away a lot of the immersion.

Fallout 2 was way ahead of its time and now we're heading back to the stone age again...

Well, I liked Oblivion too. Maybe it will be better with guns and the graphics look fine enough.

I don't understand why you guys compare fallout 3(and generally the franchise) with Oblivion.
Oblivion was a part of a great franchise, the elder scrolls and probably the worst chapter.
Have you ever played Morrowind or Daggerfall? Fallout could never be compared with an elder scrolls game..It is very different-and this proves tha fact that bethesda killed 2 of the greatest series ever.:(

Oh no, he said shitload. Big fucking whoopdidoo.
Technically there's nothing on this site that says "must be 18 or over to view etc etc", so I can see what blind rocket is talking about. But you being a bit immature about it doesn't help the matter.

It's because people think that when they changed the camera angle to oblivion's type and the fact that the makers are the ones who made oblivion. So far, I've seen nothing hinting to oblivion's style but the camera angle.

I guess the Fallout fanbase or people who dislike Oblivion wouldn't want to have Oblivion with guns, but well ... I would. Oblivion is probably my favourite game so far this gen (as well as Gears of War) and I never played any of the Fallout games so I don't give a poop about the 'fans'. Yeah, you 'erd.

I'm down for an Oblivion with guns! I've never played the previous Fallout games so I can't quite relate with the Fallout fanboys.

Although at this point I'm inclined to think they're overreacting and should get over it already, but...I think if something like the Half Life series would be taken over by for instance Epic Games and turned into a, perhaps great, but different FPS...I'd be raging of fury as well.

So I guess I can sort of relate to the Fallout fanboys... ;)

You're not supposed to care about the fans, you're supposed to care about the franchise. Give Fallout 1 and 2 a try at least.
