Activision bought the rights to do the official game to the movie Kung Fu Panda, and the game has hit the streets in time for the movie. The US stores have it since a couple of weeks ago, while the UK got it last week and the rest of Europe this week. Inside you will find the first 10 minutes of the game, as well as a couple of images.
The video shows the first level of the game, which unfortunately is the same level as the demo available on PC, the Marketplace and PSN. The second level is a lot of platform-jumping and less fighting, so I decided to use this one anyway.
With the ton of games lately, I haven't been able to play the game more than a couple of missions. I really recommend the demo here, because it will show you how the game is. See it as a kiddy Ninja Gaiden, and a much better game than the average movie license game. The game is actually pretty advanced and you have tons of attack moves, and the little kids that have been around here have enjoyed it a lot. It also features offline multiplayer for up to four players.
The film is fantastic. Really not kidding, it's just great storytelling - if anything the time passes by too quickly! Good to watch an animation film that isn't stuffed to the gills with references and godawful pop music. In fact, I'd go so far to say it's got some of the best action scenes I've seen in years - the escape of the bad guy is spectacular.
Insofar as I know this is a solid rental... not bad at all.
I have this game and it really looks great graphically. Gameplay wise its okey, not bad. For a movie licensed child game this is easily above avarage.
A cool detail is that you can upgrade your skills. Too bad the voice actors for the movie didn't borrow their voices to the game. Jack Black would been cool to hear.
an easy (kid friendly) ninja gaiden, controls are identical. loved the movie and will give this a go, i enjoyed the demo so may as well give it a rent at least. and isnt jack black involved, whoever did the voice in the demo is one hell of a good stand in if it aint the man himself?
it looks like every average film adaptation.lools almost same as shrek be4(only graphic is a bit better)but gameplay is same.nohing special.fully average game.but it maybe coul be fun to play this.
Played the xbox demo last night (had it downloaded since launch but never got around to try it) and quite liked it. It looks really good and plays well. The combat isn't as polished as Ninja Gaiden but does resemble it in many ways.

I doubt it.. they know a lot of people broke the street date too.. I think they will reset the leaderboards but no biggy, right? (8 minutes ago)

@GriftGFX: I'm just worried that if I get the game tomorrow and go online that I'll get banned or something, but I don't think even MS would do that... (9 minutes ago)

The game is out then, and there aren't any reviews? What the hell?! (27 minutes ago)

Apparently Activision even gave Gamestop the go-ahead in some areas to sell it early, because so many mom & pop joints broke the street date. (47 minutes ago)

@GriftGFX: You're kidding me?! I'm defintely checking the stores tomorrow then. Might get the PC version just to tick you off! ;) j/k (52 minutes ago)

@Jato: Lots of stores are selling it early.. PC version too, yet they can't play because it's locked on Steam.. not that anyone should be buying the PC version anymore! :P (59 minutes ago)

Pretty sweet looking environments and lighting.

However, my impressions are good so far :)
The voice acting is terrible though...
