PC Xbox 360 PS3

After a remarkable ingame teaser a few weeks ago, EA and DiCE now released 4 new screenshots and an animated trailer of Mirror's Edge. Now this is one game I really want to get my hands on as soon as possible.

Bullshots.
Indeed, but gameplay isn't that far from that if that gameplay trailer shown recently was infact genuine.

That last pic though...wow! I really love that kind of environments...so awesome!

No it isn't far, but that teaser they showed has tons of jaggies compared to this. But it will be more polished closer to the release like any other game, we just have to wait and see.

But something tells me that this game is gonna be all about running from rooftops to rooftops and climbing on objects, and doing some small side missions, which makes me think of Assassin's Creed.

Now liked Assassin's Creed but it became boring after a while when all you did was to blend in, killing innocent people and just going roof to roof.

Now that game was open world kind of thing, were it didn't have limited to where you can jump or grab, while this game is, makes me wonder if Mirror's Edge is gonna be repetitive quickly.

But that's just me, so I am holding hope for this game and can't wait to see more.

Nah, the linear and non sandbox nature of this game gives me the opposite feeling. And from the little footage we've seen, it seems like there will be a lot of indoor environments/settings as well.

Unlike AC, which basicly had one environment and it was all outside (sans a cave here and there perhaps). Gameplay was so restricted because of bad trade-offs in that game, which this game seems to be avoiding. I borrowed AC on the PS3 from a friend of mine, tried it for a bit and absolutely hated it. Horrible game imo.

This game however, looks like the complete opposite of AC...

You a right Jato (about AC being a bit different than ME), and I forgot about the indoors, bad move by me.

But again, I am EXTREMELY interested in this game, but...I want to see more gameplay just to see variety within the gameplay mechanics.

Agreed. I remember being extremely hyped for AC as well...I've learned my lesson in that regard...

Same here (but from Ninja Gaiden 2).

Thats why I am keep saying I want to see more gameplay and see various gameplay mechanics.

Making greta art and visuals and story isn't hard, but making gameplay is.

If the gameplay isn't fun, whats the point of the rest, unless you want a huge tech demo of artistic direction or graphics...etc. you get the point.

I don't think it will be anything like assassin's creed. First, it's from Dice, second, it's semi-linear. Ofcourse the gameplay has to be great before we can speek of a great game. But for now: it's an incredible first teaser trailer and the screenshots (maybe from PC-version?) are stunning. And let's not forget the music from the first trailer ;o)
I picture it being very similar to Assassin's Creed in that it's going to try to get by on the parkour stuff alone and will end up becoming tedious after an hour or two.

Portal tried to get away with some “find your path” puzzles and was very successful.
From what I have seen it got more similarities with Portal than with AC.
We will see but I hope they succeed.

Portal was also extremely short and didn't benefit from a second play-through.

But it was also bundled in with a bunch of other games.

I found it entertaining because there were some smart puzzles and brilliant writing.

I would be surprised if this had either, and if it aims for a standalone game's 10 or so hours, it's going to have to bring its A game.

You have a bleak outlook on things don't you Ronsauce? Hehe.

We might as well hope that it is good, it's one of the first original (as in new IP) games that I've been interested in in quite a while.

I know. Finally a game that looks beautiful rather than a damn brown dirty rusty piece of boredom. Sometimes i think they dont let game devs go outside in the real world at all when developing games lol.
Even if you are aiming at realism, the real world has tons more color than any CoD or such games. Just look out your window at a summers day ffs, it isnt grey, its blue green and etc etc etc.
This game has more realistic colors than any wartime shooter imo :)

I don't know her, but apparently a genuine writer (Rhianna Pratchett) works on the story side of the game.

The more it goes, the more i am interested in that game.

The artistic design is just astonishing, definitely one of the best i've ever seen in a game. I was only thinking about picking this up when I first heard about it, but i've been highly anticipating it ever since that in-game trailer was shown.

It's just a question of how much money I will have ...
