E308: Gameplay of Gears of War 2

After the trailer, here comes the gameplay of Gears of War 2, spliced in two parts of three minutes each. The first one is online, the second is coming up. Looks amazing.
Update: Second part is up, though it looks like there is a sound problem with that one. We'll try to fix it.

oh and graphically we are talking about 2 completely different games (Far cry 2 and Gow2) ...for the simple reason that the art style approach is completely different, one is a nearly tropical (well equatorial) looking game and the other is a gothic post apocalyptic one...it's like comparing an anime to a digital cartoon....no one is better they are just different, both games surpass one another in different departments...Far Cry 2's scenery smokes (in detail) GoW2's but quite honestly the detail in the character models of GoW surpasses that of Far Cry 2 and the reason is mainly because that is what the developers chose to focus on either for artistic, conceptual or simply necessity reasons (I mean there is not much you can do with a plain joe's character model like in Far Cry 2..I mean they are just a bunch of "realistic" looking mercs....T shirts or bland uniforms like it is in real life.... now look at what Epic has to work with....the locusts in general allow for a much more varied, creative and artistic approach which results in visually more impressive (if not less realistic since it is sci fi) feel....on the other side tho all Epic WANTED to deal with for scenery in GoW were caves and dilapidated gothic cities which are cool and all but god damn they will never be as impressive as an open environment

GOW2 looks incredible but you've got to hand it to Capcom too, RE5 looks at least as good if not possibly even better. Although to be fair to GOW2 we've seen more of RE5 so there might be parts of GOW2 that we haven't seen yet that look even better than RE5, plus GOW2 is coming out 5 months earlier. You could say that this is most likely going to be the best looking exclusive on any console though. ;)

Capcom have done an incredible job, but some of the textures in that co-op vid looked a bit off. I guess they'll take that though, seeing as the game doesn't come out till next year. ;)

Has anyone seen the new supposed Gears 2 box art by the way? It's on their official site, and it looks incredible.

To stay on topic, the sound (although video 2 currently has little of that) is incredible. Marcus and Dom's voices sound brilliant and really believable - I think the sound was really underrated in the first Gears, and it has certainly gone up a step for Gears 2. I wholeheartedly believe Cliffy when he says that Gears 2's story will be more emotional than Bioshock's.

lol...yeah, I know. I was actually kidding anyways. I hate saying x-game is the best looking because some games do certain things better than others but may also do things worse. I just through the "without a doubt" on there to poke fun at the guy mentioning Far Cry 2...not so much because he mentioned it, but because he was so absolute in mentioning it.
