PS3

Snoopers finally managed to upload the first gameplay video (thanks for the horrible connection, E3 people) of Killzone 2 from the E3 Showfloor. Another will follow a bit later, and longer and very high quality videos will be encoded in the next few days.

neither of us can shoot the lamps to prove it since this game is not out yet, but if you are accusing the developers of lying then that is another issue. There are already plenty of examples of moving light sources in the game, the muzzle flash is a prime example, see how it creates a shadow pattern for the tyre when the developer shoots it and how the shadow pattern moves in relation to the tyre and the position of the muzzle flash; this is dynamic lighting.

a good example here in the game S.T.A.L.K.E.R of a single dynamic light source

Sure, but a muzzle flash is certainly no rocket sience. You really won't compare this to the dynamic lighting of STALKER, won't you?

Even Gears 1 has had better textures for characters.

At last you are accepting dynamic lights; thats all i wanted

another example from an old build to reinforce my point

the dynamic lighting in S.T.A.L.K.E.R was the only tech demo i am aware of demonstrating dynamic lighting so beautifully, there are no tech demos for killzone that i am aware of.
unlike STALKER killzone has hundreds of light this is good example

http://www.gamersyde.com/pop_image.html?G=9001&N=1...

compare how the lights from the two helghast helmets light a different part of their uniform, on the foreground helghast his left shoulder is not illuminated, dont forget how many helghast there are on screen at one time. These lights are also on the tanks, APCs' and even on the interior of apcs.

here is a direct capture of gears 1 as opposed to a blurry pic above

http://www.gamersyde.com/pop_image.html?G=4225&N=2

note the aliasing

As usual geniuses are misunderstood. Snoopers sent the grenade EXACTLY where the enemy would be 3 seconds later. How awesome is that?
I guess he was shooting at the stairs for when they come down, they'll slip on the rubble. Brilliant :D

@Ronsauce
i'd be careful before calling bullshot Killzone 2 has very good AA, i've yet to see major aliasing in a killzone screenshot, that may spell bullshots, but i have to say theres very little aliasing apparent in the videos also. i wasn't drawing attention to the graphics but the mutilple light sources so my citation remains valid.

If the rest of the game is filled with dynamic lights why cant these be dynamically lit also. since it is not a moving light source its impossible to tell like i said before we cant shoot them out to prove the texture on the ground goes from light to dark until the game comes out. The point is, counter to your assertion, this game has dynamic lighting; lots of them.

you also made an assertion Killzone had no destructible environments well whats going on in here

you should check you're facts before you comment on games you dont like

GG are using worldlight for KZ2.
Worldlight uses a diffuse PRT solution to provide soft light and shadows resulting from direct and indirect illumination by an HDR skydome. On top of this, it adds a directional sunlight term which is correctly shadowed by the world geometry.

Objects in the world are lit using similar techniques, with their diffuse and specular lighting environments being created on the fly from their surroundings. This anchors the objects in the world and ensures that their lighting is always an accurate match for the local environment.

The resulting HDR image is then tone-mapped for display using one of several tone-mapping algorithms in real-time.

You can find GG under "clients".

But i bet you won't be able to do this, because it's known that most environment lighting is static.

Nothing spectacular compared to other games. I was talking about the whole environment lighting, not some muzzle flashlight or something like that.
Anyway, i am not saying that the game looks bad. It's just not the best lighting that some fanbots want us to believe.

It doesn't matter how specatacular you think it is you said it didn't exist along with destructible environments, the only point i was making is that to the unaccustomed eye what you were doing comes across as trolling

I agree, I thnk you lost Milhouse, as Gyrms quote suggest the lighting is dynamic, but it does not matter because the game look awesome and that is all that matters, who cares how they achieved it.

They need to decrease the smoke an muzzle flash from the Helghast assault rifle.
I saw the 8 minute video and it comes in front of the crosshair and you could barely see anything or the enemy you are shooting at.

Dude, let it go. I also only play on the 360 and probably will never play this game, but it's undeniable that it looks stunning. I'm also a tech/graphics whore, but what does it matter if it has or not "real" HDR, Dyn light and destructable environments if it looks like it does, and most of all looks stunning?!

Also, you're the one who doesn't seem to know what you're talking about. Gears looked incredible but was very aliased. From what i've seen in videos of this game, it seems to have a high dose of antialiasing (ok, lets not forget that this video here is filmed from a TV, which makes it look much smoother...)

I hope they kept the 1:1 damage ratio like in the first one. A well-placed grenade would kill you just like the enemy, and if you got sloppy in certain spots, you'd get cut-down.
