Looks decent. What does doing tricks do though? Extra boost or something? If not then is there any point to them?
These guys did their homework, they took a long hard look at MotorStorm and then made their game, they got amazing boards... really really nice graphics...
But I still don't know if I really want to be doing tricks or just racing, it looks so good I would have love to just race with some super turbo and nice weather effects...
But we shall see how good doing tricks are, just seems like it would get corny real quick.
this will probably be the first game i'll have bought since GTA4 and im so looking foward to this. split screen with a few mates is gonne be fun as hell.
It looks like all of the special tricks are super simple to pull off though, which is my only concern so far. I hated how SSX4 simplified ubertricks. I like having to mash like fifty buttons at the same time to pull off different tricks. Granted, that's not the only thing that ruined SSX4, the sub-par track design, and total loss of character didn't help either.
personally i'd rather they had the trick system from SSX then what they use currently in this game, since it allowed for a lot of tricks and all of which where easily accessibly at the shoulder buttons. there where multiple combo's as well as a tweek button and it all felt very accessible without feeling basic and crappy. this seems to use a single face button plus a direction to perform a trick, which is kinda crappy, but i guess they didnt want to use the SSX trick system otherwise it would REALLY be a 1:1 copy.
I'd be okay with a 1:1 copy.
And why the hell does this game get a nice long video( two tracks FFS) and Motorstorm gets a nice couple seconds of nothing?!
This game rips MotorStorm even in the music.

I love Motorstorm. I want Motorstorm 2.. and I want this.. because it looks like a totally different game!
Why do people think this game is anything like Motorstorm? It's pretty clearly a ripoff of SSX. The game looks nothing like Motorstorm, with the exception of the dirt tracks (and music).

We just wanted to make a really fast, fun, arcade game on quads and since video games is crowded marketplace, you can't venture onto new ground without stepping on someone's toes a bit at some point. :) We really like what we've done in PURE. It's really fun. I can't wait for you guys to get a copy.

SSX was definitely an inspiration. But then again, SSX has alot in common with Cool Boarders too which came before it. Excite Truck, Thrill Drive and Burnout were inspirations also. We've built on the boost = speed thing with the boost or bonus tricks system. You have to build up the boost in the bar to access the better tricks but you can also lose them if your boost level drops as you crash or boost. The difference is subtle at first but it makes a big difference to how you play the game. Our special tricks are a little like the Ubers in Tricky but the mechanics to earn, trigger and use them vary from that model quite a lot.

personally i dont see many similarities between SSX and cool boarders other then the fact they're both arcade snowboarding titles. cool boarders never had the boost system or that good of a trick system either from what i remember.
but whatever, PURE looks great and im definately going to pick it up. im sure it's gonna fall nicely between the likes of downhill domination, SSX and freekstyle so i'll be a happy camper...plus the game LOOKS great.
Downhill Domination was wicked too btw.
i have complete faith in this developement team, they made this look just as insane as motorstorm enviroment wise, those jumps are killer, and the trick boost system is a great plus..i just might add this purchase to my racing list along with motorstorm 2!

I look forward to giving this game a try. There's been a real gap left here by the absence of the SSX franchise. I miss the whole, risk versus reward, over the top arcade racer. Even Burnout has drifted away from its original vision, in terms of risk versus reward.. so I hope that this is a bit of a refreshing throwback.. as if that doesn't seem like an oxymoron!
I hope that there's a sense of danger in PURE, that's missing from the newer iterations of the Burnout franchise.
This game rips MotorStorm even in the music.
Even a co-op experience with a co-rider at the back of the quad using these weapons would be better than just pulling another SSX stunt imho.
Your concept sounds more like Mario Kart. How does adding weapons make it deviate from a racing dynamic any less than doing tricks?
The tricks pull the concept away from being a race game. It's too much SSX. Why don't developers come up with "weapons" as in Wipeout. I'm thinking oil trails, smoke bombs, rockets, machine guns, lasers (?), homing missiles etc.

i would switch my hobby to crocheting.
