And I also getting quite tired of this new game graphic whores lately. It seems to be the most easiest argument nowdays to turn down games and say they suck, i wish peoples stooped with it, This game looks great, it's not bad it's not ugly and indeed it's not the best looking game in the world, but does it really need to be?
No It doesn't need great graphics hell i'm still playing snes games. But the first thing you see in screens is graphics and those graphics won't do it any favourites to a typical western audience, so it won't sell as good as it would with resident evil 5 graphics.

I hope this game has a compelling storyline to match the nice graphics (really like the artistic direction for the main character models).

Seriously though.. you've seen the screen shots, you've seen the demo vids.. are you telling me that you think the quality of the backgrounds, the textures of the levels, are on par with the characters? They're not doing it for me.. and thelastremnant just looks better as a whole for me.
Graphics aren't just about the quality of the texture or the lighting.

The way it incorporates all of that into a seamless, real-time system, that's an achievement.

It's easy to make turn-based or normal action-RPGs look pretty because they have isolated environments that the system can take time to work on, but if everything happens at once, of course something has to give.

I didnt realise Ms funded the whole game, i know they're producing it..but i didnt know they had the rights to it. Its a shame they're not doing the same with an existing jrpg ip like star ocean.. which will almost certainly hit the ps3 at some point.

Im not sure MS owns the rights to the name, just that this was to be a MGS title at first, and this game in particular wont be allowed on other consoles.(I did read somewhere that it was entirely funded too, but that was before square got involved)

As for the character models looking better than the backrounds, I agree there. I just dont think the backrounds look bad by any means. The character models are just that good. On the frame rate, ive heard its been pretty bad at every showing, but im personally not very sensitive to framerates. I can live with 9fps in WoW and be just happy. The only time in gaming where I couldnt play a game due to framerate was the original madden title on the SNES. That was just horrible.

After researching a bit, including the ever unreliable wikipedia, seems MS does indeed own the IP as well for this title. So its more like halo is now, where its more of a subcontracted title.
