Loakum Ugh….scratch that previous comment. The upcoming Game of Thrones video game is a F’in mobile phone game. Why can’t they came an open world GoT game, like Witcher 3 or God of War? (> 3 Months ago)

48 second mark: Player exits cover with rocket launcher to confront the two approaching Helghast. Helghast on right hand side backs up immediately and heads towards cover before being killed by the subsequent rocket.
55 second mark: Helghast fires from cover, as the player accidentally clips Garza.
1:02 mark: Helghast moves from pillar to a another cover spot, you can see him lowering himself into position at the 1:03 mark.
1:05-1:08 mark: Same Helghast engages Garza, moves back to where he was previously and reinforces his partner.
3:35 mark: Player enters area, Helghast immediately move towards a cover spot behind a pillar
4:56 mark, Helghast seek cover as player enters area, 5:05 a Helghast trooper races up a set of stairs in the far right hand corner, takes cover.
5:05 mark, player RELOADS, AS HE DOES SO, Helghast leans out from cover.
(so the Helghast recognize you are vulnerable when you reload)
5:20 Helghast throws grenade (but throws inaccurately), leans back into cover.
5:22 Helghast leans out from cover, anticipating the player's movement away from the presumed blast radius. Had the grenade been thrown accurately, the AI would have correctly anticipated the player's movements.
AI throws grenade, anticipates timed detonation, leans back into cover for two seconds, then leans out waiting for the player to exit cover and escape the grenade.
That is not horrible AI, in fact it's rather advanced AI, certainly more advanced than the type of AI you get in the majority of shooters in the market.
So there are a couple instances when the Helghast react a bit slowly or they run around a corner into your bullets..so whatÉ!!!....the difficulty is set on normal!!
You cannot determine that the AI is shit on the default difficulty. You cant do it with Halo 3, you cant do it with Uncharted, you shouldnt be doing it with Killzone. You cant even really determine if it`s good, but I just felt like showing you how totally wrong you are in your claim that the ``AI doesnt take cover.``
BTW, very nice video indeed. makes me wanna play the game badly!

This guy is playing the first killzone's multiplayer with all bots except for himself.
This clip is from the first Killzone where some guy shows only two things on how acute the AI was... First, he shows how he encountered an enemy, and how he backed up around a corner, threw a grenade, just to have the AI go to the OTHER side to try to get him.
Next, he sneaks into a tower and unloads a clip into a crowd of ISA, and he gets a bullet-barrage in return.
The first one didn't have the AI just mindlessly running towards you ingame or in this demo, so I don't think they would take a backwards stance, and I would think they would keep the AI secret, seeing that they are in competition with two other consoles plus, other games coming out before them.
Do you think Gears 2 or Resistance 2 put everything all out for you to see? Heck, racing games rarely do that, so what makes you think Killzone will, especially since they have the most to prove and the most to lose if they have something original and someone copies it at the last moment?

Commented on 2008-07-26 00:20:13The controls seem a bit clunky or it might be the player, but I remember first kz had clunky controls... "It wouldn't be a KZ if they changed it too much". :p
Hopefully they fix that too. Weird to me that the game mechanics are not done, but the graphics look done to me. Wouldn't it make sense to do it the other way around....
Commented on 2008-07-26 03:59:12I agree with some of the complains about uninspired level design; i think that sixaxis stuff is fucking crap, I dont like the turret gunplay, and I dont think a goddamn warehouse and tank battle are the best things to show when your game has been hidden from the public for almost a year....
However.
I still stand by my claim that the difficulty can play a big part in how much you notice the AI. It is doing smart things, you just dont notice it, because you seem to be able to Rambo it on normal difficulty..just like Halo 3...and Uncharted, games with unquestionably good AI.
On another note, while we argue about the enemy AI, let's take note of the fact that Garza, your sidekick, is one competent motherfucker!!
I'm getting some serious Alyx Vance vibes from that NPC, he's taken out Helghast single handedly on multiple occassions and he has good survival instincts.

Commented on 2008-07-26 17:56:34 In reply to digi_matrixP.S. How does this look anything like CoD 4? Maybe I need to check my eyes or something...
i agree this doesn't look like COD4 , COD4 looks much better than this.

As for people commenting on the AI I think it's important to learn the difference between AI and behaviour scripting. The only guys i noticed charging forward were rocket launcher soldiers. Obviously it's in their scripting to melee if they're too close to fire a rocket without harming themselves. This does tend to look a bit stupid but again it supports the pre-alpha tag. There's plenty of time to tweak their behaviour! And I didn't see the machine gunners doing that, they seemed to take cover and move quite convincingly.
Commented on 2008-07-30 14:18:07 In reply to pythxviiLooking pretty good. Its not Crysis, and it looks like a polished, more pleasing CoD 4. Textures aren't the best up close, especially where they seem to think they can get away with some pretty crappy ones. Beyond that it is pleasing looking. Gameplay isn't looking terribloy unique, but its hard to tell with a shooter till you play it, so I'll have to wait till I get a PS3 to try it out! But I'm worried that Sony might push out another Haze. Staying optomistic though.
Commented on 2008-07-30 14:35:21The atmosphere and action is through the roof.
I'm just kind of upset that I need to spend another 400 bucks to play this, but it should be worth it.
Ah! Can't wait.

Graphics as pretty as ever. Really would like to see some variety in the levels locations though as it pretty much all looks the same so far.
