Microsoft press release:
Begin the Epic Journey! Critically-Acclaimed Xbox 360 Exclusive “Fable II” Arrives at UK Retailers on Oct. 24
“Fable II” Pub Games get release date and Limited Collector’s Edition contents are revealed
Today, Microsoft Game Studios and Lionhead Studios announced that the highly anticipated action role-playing game “Fable® II” will ship to U.S. retailers on Oct. 21, 2008 and UK retailers on Oct. 24, with subsequent release dates throughout the rest of the world in the coming months. Combining thrilling action, heart-wrenching emotional experiences and a genre-bending Xbox LIVE multiplayer mode, “Fable II” is the must-have blockbuster for 2008.
Developed by Peter Molyneux and Lionhead Studios, the creators of the critically-acclaimed “Fable” and “Black & White,” “Fable II” offers an infinite amount of choice in an open world environment, allowing gamers to become the most heralded of all heroes or reviled of all villains. Ringing in new heights of innovation for the genre and expanding upon the rich experience of the first title, “Fable II” immerses players in the expansive world of Albion.
“Fable II” pioneers a new combat system designed to allow players to truly master hand weapons, ranged combat weapons and magic, each using a different single button on the Xbox 360 controller, making the game approachable and accessible to both casual and hardcore gamers. Players will live out personal and emotional experiences like never before, whether playing solo or co-op together with a friend or over Xbox LIVE, with their constant dog companion by their side.
Fans eager for a head start will have the opportunity to test their luck in the Xbox LIVE Arcade title developed exclusively for “Fable II,” available on Aug. 13; those who pre-order a copy of “Fable II” at participating retailers will be given free access to download the “Fable II” Pub Games, or they can be downloaded without pre-order via Xbox LIVE for 800 Microsoft points. The high-stakes casino-style pub games, titled “Fortune’s Tower,” “Keystone” and “Spinnerbox” will offer players the opportunity to start earning a bounty of gold and treasures to fund their adventures in “Fable II,” ahead of the title’s release on Oct. 24.
In addition to the standard retail version, “Fable II” will be offered in a Limited Collector’s Edition through participating retailers and will feature:
• Bonus DVD – Includes new ‘Making-of Feature’ with Peter Molyneux and the team at Lionhead Studios and concept art viewer
• Bonus In-Game Content (Requires LIVE account) – Includes “The Hall of the Dead” Dungeon, “The Wreckager” Legendary Cutlass Weapon and Otherworldly Bonus
• Collectible Hobbe figure with accessories – From the Qee Collection comes this one-of-a-kind Hobbe figure. Nasty, brutish, and short, he roams the countryside, preying on travelers and spiriting away the children of the unwary.
• 48-hour Xbox LIVE Gold Trial Card – With Xbox LIVE Gold, players can show off their individual hero by inviting friends into their unique version of Albion or they can visit their friends’ Albion, and earn additional gold, experience and renown to take back into their own.
• Five printed Fate Cards – These five beautiful cards foretell the Hero’s great destiny to journey across all of Albion, encountering deadly enemies and enigmatic allies. The path leads to a choice that will change the world forever.

Commented on 2008-08-11 15:57:03I know about this whole wife and pet thing but in fable 1, what was the sense in having a wife at all?! Oh yeah besides of course having a supidly displayed nookie. No interaction and affection to gameplay at all.
I played through fable and I enjoyed it but it did not live up to what "Peter good or evil Molineux" promised.
I just don't hope that his hype manages to disappoint me again.
Oh and btw (its just my personal opinion), I hope they improved the storyline.
In part 1 it was too childish, and the tutorial was frustrating and waaaay too long for a rather short game...
*me beeing a utter tutorial-hater*

Commented on 2008-08-12 15:37:44If the things you write are true for fable2, the game will be huge, but still I have my doubts...
Commented on 2008-08-12 21:33:44@ pUMBa305: How sweet is it actually living in a fairy tail?

Commented on 2008-08-13 13:23:47 In reply to pUMBa305I will almost certainly buy it as I thoroughly enjoyed the first Fable(except the tutorial was too long as Redneck said), but I still don't believe will live up to what Peter would want us to believe.

yes i took that from star wars
even though you softened the blow by saying youll buy it just leads me to wonder if your the one living in a fairy tale
why fight against something you "thoroughly enjoyed"it s like if you want to buy it just to say i told you so almost as if you expect it to flop just becuase peter is the lead developer remember in fable1 he set a very unlikly release date which gave him little time to develope a game, hes been working on this game for almost 4 years until he set the release date(top of page) and when its all said and done im more than confident with peter and lionheads ability to deliver. i end by saying isnt it every developer supposed to make his game sound worth buying, in the end anything can be said about any game its all just a matter of opinion

Commented on 2008-08-13 16:41:07I just don't get why people always start calling you a hater if you state obvious weakspots...
[off topic]e.g I enjoyed gears but still I think that enforcing the bullets when performing an active reload is one of the stupidest things ever! [/off topic]
Commented on 2008-08-13 20:04:49 In reply to Megidoas for you redneck every game has its flaws as im sure fable 2 will have but if you choice to dwendle on the flaws you steal what potential lies beneath those flaws which is what i see in fable 2. and i never ment to call you a hater these topics are just for entertainment if you took that seriously. but what do you want you asked what does it have special and i told you.but i do see your point just try and enjoy your games without letting distractions cloud your point of view
p.s active reload is like the tenth thing wrong with gears(good game no hate coming from me)
in the end yes im extreamly biased but i have fable as my number 3 game ever sorry i have to defend it when attacked
Commented on 2008-08-13 23:16:09I think Fable 2 will be similar in that it will fall short in many areas, but it will still be high on the fun...and that's good enough for me. I never once said or implied that the game is going to "flop."
PS: Active reload in GoW is awesome...even if it didn't make logical sense that the rounds would then cause more damage... whatever though..it's a game.
Commented on 2008-08-14 02:23:51p.s i dont think gears 2 has active reload
Commented on 2008-08-14 03:15:06 In reply to pUMBa305As for active reload in Gears 2, it is in there. When Cliffy was showing off some of the gameplay stuff, he mentioned that nailing the active reload with the flamethrower increased its range.
Commented on 2008-08-14 18:15:21I just tested the pub games... well nice minigames but 800 points- one of the worst rip-offs ever. They are scarcely worth 400 points!!!
Since MS allowed developers to make XBLA games bigger and more expensive, there haven't been any 400p-titles! Its just absurd...as if the "400points-class"
has never existed.
Even the worst bullshits (and now I'm not refering to the pub-games) cost 800p nowadays...
P.S.
I like the idea of active reload too, but it should be enough if just the reload-time would depend on it. (like 3-4 seconds difference between a perfect and a messed up reload)
I just hate it when 2 people start shooting at each other and the one dies who didn't banged his bullets stupidly away in order to perform an active reload at the beginning of a round.
I like the idea for singleplayer...
In multiplayer, "upgraded" bullets should be at least somehow identificable.
Commented on 2008-08-14 19:23:35 In reply to Redneckand yes redneck thay could use something cant say what yet but something i guess lionhead should have place all the pub-games from the game into one buyable arcade game worth like 1600 ms points
and as you stated thats the reason i dont like active reload(how the fuk did we start talking about gears)its to shady going on live without experiance in gears now a days no fun getting smacked about for an hour if i wanted that id play ninja gaiden
