Bethesda just released these five gameplay videos of Fallout 3, to be released on PC, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 on October 31st. The videos are narrated by Todd Howard, the executive producer for Bethesda Softworks. Update: 720p versions added.
As i see it Fallout 3 will not be a Fallout sequel, but it will be Elder Scrolls V: Fallout. When you accept that, and if you liked Morrowind and Oblivion, then Fallout 3 will be an awesome game!
The videos looks great! Nice faces this time, overall graphics looks good, banter system looks a little boring though (why not borrow some ideas from BioWare?), but all in all it looks fantastic.
Lately i'm having troubles streaming videos in Firefox on this site, normally a video would play right away...not i see a white 'play button' in the middle of the video window...when i press it, i see it's loading...but it doesn't do anything. When i try it out in Internet explorer, everything goes well....wtf?

i dont see any good about this game
So do I. But then I am one out of 1000 persons who disliked oblivion...
I mean whats so special about those games?
Oblivion had (imo) no story. Not a good thing for a rpg. It had no difficulty-level.
It becomes easier when you die. Also not very motivating for a rpg.
And framerate and pop-ups were a joke. Actually a bad one.
At least they fixed the last point as it seems from the videos.
All I can hope for is a motivating story in fallout. Setting looks quite nice though...
If you ask me, charcter-developement is the most important thing in rpgs. Its something I've never seen in a western rpg so far!

Then start playin' them... geez.
No Char. Dev. in wRPGs... yhea right.
I'm assuming he means character developer in the narrative sense, which makes his complaint hold a lot more merit. To counter that point, I would say that roll playing is the most important aspect of an RPG, which I don't see much of in eastern RPG's. But that's because I think RPG's owe their heritage to D&D, and aren't just fancy interactive animes.
I also don't think it's really all that true, either. There's plenty of character development in Bioware's games, for example. Hell, look at KOTOR. Here we have a game where you are the main character, and you create his or her identity from scratch, and yet they still manage to give you an identity within the story that unfolds brilliantly.
I actually like the fact that they've kept the conversation format old school. I don't really know why, I just like the simplicity of it. Besides, your decisions still seem to contribute towards the outcome of the game.
Really looking forward to this game now. After the showing at E3, I was very disappointed and sceptical. However after these videos, I honestly couldn't be more excited for this game's release.
I think this, at least what I have seen of it, looks and plays exactly how a 3D Fallout should. The fact that they even kept the turn based style attacks for all those whining about the original fallout is just brilliant.
I got chills when I saw that RAD Scorpion in the video, I can't wait to play this game!
You know Im glad I never played computer games.
It lets me approach everything with an open mind
and see the beauty in a game.
Cause it seems anyone who has played a PC game
always has something bad to say.
The game looks goregous! After watching the vids
I am ready to explore.
Can't wait.

It has something to do that Fallout 1&2 are classic games on PC. This looks promising and is probably really good game, but will still be disappointment for me. I miss the old Fallout 3 (Van Buren)...

Right on.. I think it looks fantastic too. I was worried that the landscape wouldn't be interesting enough, being so desolate, but it looks like exploration will be a blast. These videos were great.

I'm fairly sure that CRPG stands for console role-playing game. Made to add abit of seperation from an existing rpg genera that was on pc..such as text base games ect
And what the dude means is that the action-elements has taken over the role-playing-elements of the games now-a-days a littlebit. He's a little afraid that the game will be a little too much a shooter and less a true RPG (as the Fallout-games always have been; TRUE RPG).
And to respond to the dude who said something about wRPGs NOT have character-development; WTF are you talking about?
The definition of an wRPG = broad caracter development features and role-playing elements.
j-"RPGs" = an adventure game with forced caracters and a linear plot.
Common people, make some research before posting on a forum.. damn! >_<

I agree with most of your points, to a certain extent.. but.. character development can be interpreted in several different ways. Hey, let's turn to Wikipedia! ;)
See the first description listed? That's precisely what I pointed to in defense of that statement previously. Character development is a term that's related to storytelling, and is a component of any good narrative, and as such is a description that predates video gaming period.
I still don't think it's a great point. Sure, JRPG's focus on narrative storytelling, and as a component of that feature a vast amount of character development.. but WRPG's don't simply lack it. Sure, Oblivion does, but lets not pretend Oblivion is every WRPG. Some games that feature character creation still manage to feature character development for the staring roll, and games with party systems often feature plenty of development of their supporting rolls.

check out Mass effect...very character driven rpg...honestly its very different from oblivion, far more focused and cinematic...best rpg so far this gen
well I think this is going to be a great game and about that story of oblivion i agree it was very short but even so i thought it was a very good story. I think they will make it longer in this game first I wasn't even shur if i wanted this game but now im really going to buy it so lets hope that in the future that we see even better gameplay videos

"While technically not a separate genre, and sharing the same defining characteristics as console RPGs (also confusingly referred to as CRPGs)"
