Codemasters today unleashed the 8 Ball DLC pack for GRID. The pack costs €8 (800p) and is available on Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. A couple of images can be found inside.
Codemasters press release:
Thursday 4th December/... Driving over £3 million worth of top-spec racing cars down gamers’ download pipes, Codemasters® today announced the launch of the new downloadable “8 Ball” premium content pack for Race Driver: GRID™, the hit racing game of the summer, for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft® and the PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system. The 8 Ball pack will be available today, Thursday 4th December, from Xbox LIVE® Marketplace (800 Microsoft Points) and from PLAYSTATION®Network (£6.29 / €7.99 / $9.99).
True to the original game’s quality ethos, the 8 Ball pack delivers eight superb high performance new cars to drive in the game’s ‘Race Day’ mode and online races. New featured cars include the McLaren F1 GTR, TVR Cerbera Speed 12, Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X, Honda S2000, Nissan GT-R (S-G2008), VW Nardo, Pontiac Firebird Trans AM and the Volvo C30 (full details in Notes).
In addition to the cars, there are two new multiplayer events to compete in set on existing circuits from across Race Driver: GRID’s three continents and designed to test drivers to their very limit online. On Xbox 360, the pack will also feature four new Achievements worth 25 points each to earn from four new competitive challenges including Jack Of All Trades, Drift Master, Gas Guzzler and Clean Passing.
Each downloadable pack will require players to have a full copy of Race Driver: GRID on the appropriate format in order to experience the additional content. Details of downloadable content for the Games for Windows® edition of Race Driver: GRID will be announced shortly. For all the latest information and videos, be sure to visit www.racedrivergrid.com
• McLaren F1 GTR – The McLaren F1 GTR wrote itself into the history books as the only GT car to ever win Le Mans outright in the modern era and is considered one of the finest examples of automotive engineering in history.
• TVR Cerbera Speed 12 – The TVR 12 smashes past 60 MPH in just under 3 seconds. Production models were planned, but they were considered too powerful to sell to the general public.
• Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X – For over a decade the Evo has been billed as a supercar slayer – now the Evo-X in GRID lets you unleash its sledgehammer aggression in the Pro-Tuned class.
• Honda S2000 – This roadster is heavily modified for drifting and has become a cult-favourite thanks to its award winning engine.
• Nissan GT-R (S-G2008) – One of the world’s hottest cars makes its debut in Race Driver: GRID in its fully tuned racing spec.
• VW Nardo – This powerful concept car made real from VW uses its 600BHP engine to rocket to 60MPH in 3.1 seconds.
• Pontiac Firebird Trans AM – The 1971 racing edition of this true American legend is a worthy addition to GRID’s exclusive group of muscle cars.
• Volvo C30 – Adding to Race Driver: GRID’s touring car roster comes the C30, Volvo’s agile, cutting edge hot-hatch straight from the STCC grid.
ACHIEVEMENT CHALLENGES:
• Jack Of All Trades – Win an online race in each of the 8 Ball pack cars.
• Drift Master - Achieve a 99x combo in the Honda S2000.
• Gas Guzzler - Clock up over 250 miles in your favourite 8 Ball pack car.
• Clean Passing - Win a clean race in an 8 Ball Pack car from last position.
Does anybody remember on PGR 2 when they released DLC with not only new cars, but also entirely new cities/backgrounds to race in? Now THAT'S how DLC should be done in racing games. Not this 8 cars for $10 BS! This isn't at all proportionate to the $50 or $60 that you would've payed for all the content on the original disc either!

I know, It's sad.. But I bet you this BS will still sell well.. To many people are to ignorant or simply don't care.. The industry managed to make it feel normal to pay for BS now.. It's even so bad now that if you moan about it fanboys will tell you to shut up and defend this BS with socalled free choice arguments etc..
The economic crisis obviously doesn't affect (console)gamers.. ;)
Great game, I rented it out and after finnishing it I wished I have purchased it....though I didn't feel like paying full price for game I already finnished :P
This type of thing should be free, they should be grateful if anyone is still playing and when you look at how huge the car selection is in other racing titles, charging gamers for some new cars feels like a rip off to me.
It just feels like the original anemic car selection should have been larger in the first place and only new tracks, like new maps are DLC that justifies charging players, IMO

Hah, I just downloaded the Long Beach tracks a few weeks ago.

@GriftGFX: Of course not. Matchmaking for "official ranking" and dedicated servers for non ranking. Would work perfectly. Shame IW doesn't think so. (53 minutes ago)

well, if you weren't banned for condoning piracy, you are now for that comment. (1 Hour ago)

@bleachedsmiles: in case you hadn't noticed, the 360 version has already been leaked and is being pirated by millions of non-pc gamers. Suck a dick. (1 Hour ago)

And hey.. match making isn't the problem. Match making and dedis aren't mutually exclusive. (2 Hours ago)

Like Rage was ever going to be a huge player online. That's like getting bent out of shape over Borderlands. (3 Hours ago)

Good thing I didn't get a new gaming rig. If everyone goes matchmaking, I might as well stick with consoles (6 Hours ago)

Bah, no PC?
=(
edit
Ah, it's coming up, didn't see that part.
800msp no thanks, 400msp maybe.
would love the McF1 GTR and Nissan GT-R though (shame they're not available in career mode.)
That surprised me, don't understand why they would skip that.
:o

Was that sarcasm?

No, I just didn't read that sentence d00d showed. :)
Wow, those are some NICE cars for such a crappy game at such a rip off price :(
Thats what I thought. Either you love or hate the controls. I am in the hater-club.
With this, Burnout, MC:LA, and NFS all disappointing I haven't been able to get an excellent and fun racing game since PGR 4.

If you are going to release download content why not do it in the first 2-3 months of release.. when people are still hyped and playing the game..
Now you finally do one, a weak one at that, and it's like 6 months late.. (you just can't be serious)
-I don't even want to tell you what you can do with that download content...
Wouldn't mind giving that McLaren a spin :)

Too Little Too Late.... Come on' the game came out in June 2008 for PS3..

Imo every DLC that arrives 2 months after release is a rip-off.
