You might have noticed if you are not using an ad-blocker that the ads lately on gamersyde have been getting more and more intrusive. Even though I'm personally quite happy not to have to pay some of the site's expense out of my own pocket anymore since we switched to our current ad network, this latest type of ads is utterly and absolutely not acceptable. We are currently working with our ad partner to ensure these are never to be seen again on the site (please let us know on the suggestions forum if you see any of these again starting tomorrow), and I hope we'll be able to bring you guys the same quality of browsing as we had before. We are also thinking about another way of financing the site, so if you are interested, read on inside this news!
We are thinking about using a site like Patreon to have an alternate way of financing the site besides regular ads. For those who never used that site, it allows you to give an arbitrary sum of money to someone or a company, on a monthly basis.
This generosity would of course mean a few things for our patrons, like ads being disabled (of course), a special mention on the forum account, a dedicated download server, little things like that. Needless to say, no current (or future as far as I can tell) feature of the site will find itself magically restricted to our sponsors, you should know us well enough by now to know this would never happen. :)
What do you think about that idea? Would you be willing to help us financially with a patreon-like system?
@Moonwalker: E3 could work. But they,d need to bring a lot lf actual games along with it. Othwire they,ll be left holding a console while sony shows us all the games you can play. (2 minutes ago)
Now if they could dig up info on some new games that would be more interesting than some specs on an unreleased console with barely any exclusives. (9 minutes ago)
What's wrong with E3? With Nintendo and Sony's stuff out there they could snatch up a lot of attention. (44 minutes ago)
@GriftGFX: Yeah but Phil Spencer seemed unsure when the Scorpio would be fully revealed yet. Would be mistake to do during E3 IMO. (48 minutes ago)
I mean.. they did a good enough job explaining its content. Won't be too long if they still intend to release it this year. (1 Hour ago)
@GriftGFX: Yep, until MS reveals the thing themselves, hopefully before E3, it's probably going to be like this. (1 Hour ago)
Digital Foundry jumping on a six month old public white paper is fine. People want the content :P (1 Hour ago)
