Namco-Bandai released this whole new trailer of Ace Combat Assault Horizon composed of dynamic replay sequences. Nothing really impressive from a technical standpoint but what the fans of the series really want is a game that will honor the franchise in terms of fun and action.

I was gonna call it the Ace Combat: Modern Warfare edition but the trailer kinda reminds me of Burnout (Aerial takedowns!).

This series was sooo good during the PSX and early PS2 days but it went downhill with Ace Combat 5 when they introduced pointless Jdrama to the series...awkward characters, bad story telling, annoying voice characters argh

And this looks like its on rails!! A on rails shooter in 2011...piss of Namco

Ace Combat 4 was the last great AC game.

Ace Combat 3 NA edition was totally butchered...they removed all the decision making, story, many missions were taken out. I heard that the Japanese Version of Ace Combat 3 is actually the best Ace Combat game since it has really good decision making design

It has the most complex storyline of the series, but the controls are much more stiff in comparison to 2 or especially 4. The missions also aren't that complex or demanding in this game. It sure is a shame, that the story was left out for the western releases, but it's far from being the best AC. That's still 4 in my opinion. By far.
Funny thing btw. is, that the japanese players were complaining about AC3, since they thought the massive amount of storytelling was an unnecessary addition to the series. Then, when it was released in the us the fans there complained about getting a butchered release. Seems Namco did everything right then.

Also, all the AC games on PS2 were great although the storytelling method of hand painted graphic novel style stills used in AC4 was the best of the three. AC5 had better more varied missions and wingmen commands and Zero had the very cool branching mission dynamic. If you strip out the story AC4 was pretty much the weakest both in visuals and gameplay.
