ALIEN: ISOLATION PRE-ORDER CONTENT UNITES ORIGINAL MOVIE CAST
Sigourney Weaver and Key Cast Members from Ridley Scott's Classic 1979 Film AlienTM Add Their Voice and Likeness to Two Downloadable Bonus Levels

SAN FRANCISCO & LONDON – July 9, 2014 – SEGA® of America, Inc., SEGA® Europe, Ltd. and Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products today announced exclusive pre-order bonus content for Alien: Isolation™, featuring the vocal talent and likenesses of key cast members of the 1979 Ridley Scott masterpiece, Alien. Academy Award-nominated and Golden Globe-winner Sigourney Weaver (Ellen Ripley), Tom Skerritt (Dallas), Veronica Cartwright (Lambert), Harry Dean Stanton (Brett), Yaphet Kotto (Parker) and Ian Holm (Ash, likeness and sound-alike) are set to feature in two downloadable bonus missions, which allow you to relive two classic scenes from the movie.

"Working with the original cast has been an incredible experience," said Alistair Hope, Creative Lead on Alien: Isolation. "It was important to us to have the key original cast members reprise their roles in order to perfectly capture the atmosphere of the movie. For some of the original cast, this is their first appearance in an Alien video game. Seeing them reprise those roles after 35 years was an unforgettable experience."

Anyone who pre-orders the game will get a free upgrade to the Nostromo Edition, which includes the bonus content "Crew Expendable". Players can choose to play as one of three surviving crewmembers, only moments after Brett's death at the jaws of the creature. As Ellen Ripley, Dallas or Parker, players can explore the Nostromo from habitation deck down through engineering, coordinating their efforts with Lambert and Ash to lure the Alien into the ship's airlock.

In addition, consumers who pre-order at GameStop will exclusively also receive "Last Survivor" in which players pick up the story as Ripley tries to escape on the Narcissus. On hearing the screams of Lambert and Parker, players must navigate their way back down through the Nostromo in order to activate the self-destruct sequence, before retracing their steps back to the Narcissus shuttle and their escape.

Alien: Isolation is a first-person survival horror game capturing the fear and tension evoked by Ridley Scott's 1979 classic film. Players find themselves in an atmosphere of constant dread and mortal danger as an unpredictable, ruthless Xenomorph is stalking and killing deep in the shadows. Underpowered and underprepared, you must scavenge resources, improvise solutions and use your wits, not just to succeed in your mission, but to simply stay alive.

Alien: Isolation will be available from October 7, 2014, for Xbox One the all-in-one games and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system, Windows PC, Xbox 360 games and entertainment system from Microsoft and PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system.

Actually there was a good Alien game (Rebellion's Y2K PC classic). You just happened to be a toddler at that time. And this will be the 2nd one (at least that's what i'm hoping for).

this could be really good though, it's the first time I've felt the devs really genuinely cared about the universe the first film takes place in.

Looks tense. I'll be shitting my pants but this looks good. Bit sad though that the actual gameplay only starts 1min into the trailer.

100% agreed. It's things like this that will prevent me from ever supporting certain games.

Glad they're going original Alien route, instead of Cameron

The stuff they've shown so far looks awesome.
Interesting they're bringing back the old cast

Yea, pre-order stuff is really dumb. I generally just ignore it. It's rarely vital or even worth while content.

I mean, i LOVE Alien. The first one. Fuck the others. So this makes my fan boner immensly erect, but at the same time...i mean, will this be even close to as good as the movie? I mean what with bringing back the characters and actors. It's just never gonna live up to the movie.

I just hope the main game is good. Certainly looks fantastic.

Pre-order incentives like this are a red flag - they imply that the publisher has little confidence in the title and wants to sell as many copies as possible in advance of the reviews being published.

Considering the amount of games that do it now, I don't think bonuses should imply anything

If anything this game is guaranteed not to do well solely based on the game style they've chosen...

I'm with you mate, crap like that makes me instantly NOT want to buy the game. Not long ago I was 100% sure I'm gonna buy myself a copy of Drakengard 3, but then I learned about that insanely stupid idea of Japanese VO as a pre-order DLC bonus ONLY. I did not buy the game.

or maybe its the FACT that game are costing more to make yet are more or less selling at the same prices so developers need to try make money with DLC, and FREE dlc with preorders it gain more sales

when the ps3 and 360 first came out infact even 4-5 years into their life new games in the UK were 49.99 and now were in 2014 games costing way more to make yet ps4 and xbox one games new are still £49.99

people moan about developers closing down yet expect everything for nothing...stupid

i dont see people moaning when they go to the shop and there are buy 1 get 1 free offers, buy 1 get 1 half price or buy this tv and get a blu-ray player half price or free

Also if you dont want to preorder then dont moan after, i preorder games because where i preorder from every few months they have a extra 10% off preorder games so i get the games for just under £44 and i get the games 2-5 days before release

The thing is that free preorder DLC and such like is just feeding a model that then obviously doesn't work. Right? If you can't sustain your big ass AAA title on regular sales and you need to do all these anti-consumer things to keep it afloat, maybe it's time to rethink how you are making games. When like a single dude can make a game, release it on steam and be successful there is no real reason why larger studious could refocus their efforts so as not to need million upon millions of sales to make a profit.

Then again i'm not so sure that's the actual issue. I think it's just about maximizing sales in the first week. Before used copies start floating about.

How is it anti-consumer to give something free for people who preorder lol

they are the consumers and are gaining something free so its not ANTI anything

its a ADDED BONUS, and not something that would have been in the main game anyway lol, it adds life onto a game and so does future DLC or are you against developers adding extra stuff for people who have completed the main game?

I would understand people moaning like plebs if the preorder dlc had a price.

personally i never had paid for DLC i use the free stuff BUT im not then moaning like a fool hat developers are still releasing paid DLC lol i just use my brain and figure if i want it and if i dont then i dont get it SIMPLE.

Yes but a single guy making a game does not have all the staff to pay for, all the overheads and while his game may be fun it looks nothing like a AAA game and couldnt possibly either so you can not compare AT ALL

thats like comparing the fx in a $200 million movie to a indie movie with $100k budget lol

You really do have your head up your own ass don't you lol? (see how the lol at the end just makes it look more stupid?) Anyway, enough with the insults.

The obvious thing you are missing here is that a lot of people perhaps don't want to or can't pre-order? Need i say Colonial Marines? That's an excellent example of why you should wait until AFTER a game is released to buy it. The pre-order baiting is anti consumer because it completely negates the usefulness of reviews, it's also anti-consumer because it means that some players will not get all the content, because they were SMART CONSUMER who waited or because they can't go to the specific store that has the pre-order offer or some bullshit like that.

And yes, the comment about a single guy making an economically viable game. You kind of missed the point there didn't you? No it won't look the same, but that's kinda my goddamn point isn't it? They are so costly to make that they have trouble making a profit, while much smaller games that don't have 250-man team and all the bells and whistles still rake in money while being fun and creative games. Then again i think most AAA games are complete jokes now anyway. It's all about big name voice actors, shiny graphics and abysmal gameplay. A retarded gherkin must be able to finish a game on hard, or it won't sell enough to be successful. Not every game can sell goddamn CoD or GTA numbers, so set the budget accordingly and make a good game instead of a AAA game.

As for paid DLC, i don't see any issue with that as long as you are getting good content for your money, but that's the same as any product. Horse armor? Not so good.

I love when i see pre-order bonuses too. It means i get some extra content for a game i was buying anyway. The only time pre- order content is a bad thing is when it's split out across 20 dufferent retailers. Otherwise i'm A-OK with stuff like this.

I don't see the problem, all devs do it with Day One Editions and the content will be available later for a price.
The only people that it effects are people who wait to pick it up cheap or used.
like KORNdog said, it just means extra content for people who are gonna buy it anyway.
If you not buying it day one then the content isn't for you anyway, you can buy it later when you pick up the game cheap, it not anti customer it a thank you, a bonus for pre-ordering.
You can not op out in participating in something and expect the rewards for it.
Also most retailers keep stock of pre-order bonus copies, I got a Steelbook Pre-order Bonus Copy of COD Ghosts on PS4 for £25, I'm sure this will be the same.

That's the thing though, it's a punishment for people who don't want to guess whether the game is good or not. If you just assume that you want to buy the game day one then yes. Me on the other hand would like a few opinions on it before buying it and hence i'm not gonna pre-order it. I'm being punished for not forking out 90 bucks on something i don't know anything about.

Sounds like you put too much stock in some other guys opinions? Most people know they will like something before they try it themselves or before they hear from some random guy that enjoyed it. That applies to eveything, be it games, movies, music, food, sex etc.

That's the most BS argument you've ever made. The last game in this franchise being Aliens: Colonial Marines not withstanding, consumers generally like a consensus before they go in on anything.
