Platinum Games' next game Anarchy Reigns starts to reveal some of its characters. You've probably already seen Sasha the ice queen around the web, now discover Zero with a trailer and two screens. Expected to release next fall on Xbox 360 and PS3.
Pretty solid design, reminds me of Raiden from MGS Rising. Good gameplay video, nice multiple dash attack, decent good speed to him.
I definitely want to see more of Zero, looks very cool :)
pretty crappy design. looks like they stole the original dark-sector design and slapped on a couple of samurai swords. kinda lame imo. not sure about the game itself either tbh. we'll see i guess.
I think the Sasha trailer made a better impression. This dude looks a bit naff, and he's beating up Jack Cayman over and over and over for some reason. Does that mean it'll be pvp in a Bayo-esque fighting engine? I sure hope they make concessions to that, because being on the recieving end of Bayo would be a fucking nightmare of a game.
Amateurish concept drawing and weak character design but I doubt I will care if this plays as well as we have come to expect from Platinum. Looks a bit like Madworld meets Bayonetta thus far and the concept of a huge free for all street brawl does sound like a winner if they can make it work.

If that's the case, 99% of all concept art is amateurish, since most of it looks rough and simple as this, as it just has the purpose to showcase the conceptual design e.g. clothing and style of a charakter and is mostly meant for inhouse purposes. considering this is a final character that appears in the game. the artwork should be heaps better then this "doodle". i've seen tons of concept art (yes, i know the difference) that looks better then this. this is what i'd expect from a a small, inexperienced, start-up developer, maybe from a freshman artist, not the people who made bayonetta, okami and vanquish. dont get me wrong, i dont expect the level of polish you see on production artwork, but it should be a hell of a lot more refined then this POS. it's like something you draw on the back of your notebook when you're a kid. looks like it was designed by one too.

Um well, that's what a character concept normally is. A rough/doodle which focuses on the design/clothing details. Just look into any artbook out there (e.g. ones form king of fighters or street fighter) und you'll find stuff like this. Anything more refined normally is an illustration already or a character study.
