The swedish rally tracks would be sweet to see in Dirt 2´s graphical fidelity, that´s for sure! I am from Sweden BTW, so that would make it even more fun for me :D
Colin McRae with Ken Block on the cover ? And they said they wanted to make this a tribute to McRae - how about actually adding the WRC ?
So sad, with this engine and technology night-racing through the finnish forests would have been a blast.
Well, the way i see it Codemasters really want to make this game hit in the biggest market possible: America. But even thou' i won't be bying it ( and wouldn't have even if it did feature WRC ) i can understand why it bothers the european rally fans.
As Jodque pointed out, this engine could really do justice to the european tracks from snowy Sweden to rainy U.K and everything in between.
Who has the rights for WRC at the moment? Is it still sony ? Maybe Evolution Studios should put Motorstorm series on hold and do a new WRC game for a change..
I LIKE
Whatever happened to Snow tracks in rally games? They are by far the most fun races in Rallisport Challenge 2, but since then they have totally vanished in order to fit even more desert-y levels in there. It´s sad...
Imagine playing a football game like Fifa 10 or PES with cheesy American commentary. Imagine that Fifa was taken over by America. Manchester United would be called Manchester Red Devils, and Real Madrid would be called Real Galactico; Chelsea would be called something like West London Chavski, or some shite, and Liverpool would be Merseyside Red Socks. Yeah. Horrible I know!

Yeah. Horrible I know! They'd also introduce new rules such as being able to slam dunk the ball into the net once inside the 18 yard box. Maybe. My point in all this? Well, my point is that Codemasters have just did to Rally and McRae's name something like I've just described in the aforementioned rant about the hypothetical scenario about football.
Erm.. didnt PES already do this?
HOWEVER, the car list based on the demo (the locked cars) is very disappointing, very little in the way of classics like the Mini Cooper, Lancia Stratos, Delta, RS200 which were still around in earlier CMR games...
*vomits*
Yeah, another reason why this can't be quite called a rally game, simply an off road game.
A beautifull one at that though (can't stress that enough).
BTW, Sony I do believe does have the rights to WRC. I have seen Loeb's Citroen and Solberg's (now retired) WRC2008 in trailers (see the damage video on this site, for instance--isn't that Solberg's WRC2008?). Though I was thoroughly impressed with Dirt 2 (the graphics of course, and the physics and driving engine seem to be a big improvement over Dirt 1), I'm thinking the rally game for rally fans to buy this winter is going to be GT5 (damn, I wish this game wasn't an exclusive, because now I'm going to get flamed for that). If you want to drive fast and crash hard in a game that looks good (and aren't that interesting in the intricacies of racing), then Dirt 2 seems to be for you.
Oh Canada!!
