Games is finally supposed to be 720p with FXAA now... just like it was supposed to be 720p with 2XMSAA and no v-synch on previous "E3 build" before the release/Gold version and they dropped it to bump AA into full 4xMSAA.
The engine is flexible and resolution was always mixed in favour of Aliasing by remedy, I guess.

I don't believe these shots are actual gameplay shots. They don't look quite like the game looked in motion from a video I saw recently. I don't like these screen shots and felt the game looked much better in motion from the video of actual gameplay.
Judging from the video, it looked as if the game was running at a true 720p, and overall looks better than the original, which is quite an accomplishment for being a downloadable game. I can't wait for next month! I had never played the original until recently and it pulled me away from Gears 3, Uncharted, Forza 4, Halo, and even WoW.

Seems as if they are proud for a reason of their own engine. All the best Remedy, Alan Wake will be a wonderful franchise, just give it time.

without prerendered videos, og AW could fit on 2GBs.

But yhea, if your are spekig in technical side of things, they could just not bother to improve frame-rate, tearing & resolution for a ownloadable game that has half the time-lenght of the original.

When you can't come up with original creature creations, just throw in a giant spider...lol.

It's shocking how many games fall back on spiders, be they real, mechanical etc. it's like they can't think of anything better. Every other game i play seems to have them.

i dont get this mentality of using the term "for a download game" as some sort of get out clause. The games simply like the dlc episodes.. its using the same engine, yet nobody was shocked that the dlc looked the same graphical standard as the retail. I've got Crysis 2 as a download game. Download games are going to be the future. Maybe its just about size restrictions? but then i've had dlc thats been several gigs

It swings both ways ofcourse... Amy and other lesser accomplished looking games have survived complete ridicule under the guise of "for a download game"... maybe it would be more fair to class such things as low budget ... or maybe i should get more sleep and leave things that dont need to be ranted about.. it is becoming a pet peeve though for some reason.

As for this.. looks good, but more action less tension. Arcade mode.. great, but the shooting mechanicals werent exactly on par with Gears so dunno how well it's gonna work when the later hordes are coming

defensive much? i said every other game. yes, uncharted included. it's an unoriginal enemy type that is far too overused. but uncharted used it in a 'slightly' more original way then just slapping in a giant arachnid. reminded me of the scarab beetles in "the mummy"...less spider like, more a deadly, living "liquid".

i just notice their inclusion in games. they're almost a video game staple. kinda funny. you'd think in a medium where you are not limited in any way you'd get more then just giant versions of real life creatures and yet hear we are again....the 2353526359 game with giant fucking spider...lol

People find spiders scary, this is an action horror, why does it have to be an overused cliche if it works?

Seems to have Digi_matrix responding with the desired emotion =)

Perhaps the video game industry is collectively trying to cure mankind's arachnophobia ;D

I really hate spiders!! And I hate seeing them in games, but they everywhere in games... Not at all original, but there isn't much in gaming that is original anymore. Any of the super high profile games of today have some very unoriginal elements and it's difficult to avoid sometimes.

I really hope this game isn't 'arcade'. I want the same formula as the original which was tension based. I was able to explore as well and just look at things at my leisure sometimes. I'm tired of 'COD' (arcade) games.

C'mon don't tell you're not scared of spiders. Just look at this scene from Lord of the Rings, and tell me you're not squirming.

Spiders may be a generic enemy, but they work!
