Xbox 360

Battlefield 2 Modern Combat will be released this friday here in Europe, and today in USA, so EA released this pre-release trailer. It bascally presents most of the maps in the game, by showing 2 minutes of action-packed gameplay sequences. Really doesn't look that bad, and the demo was great.

i played the demo and those shadow effects look pretty but sometimes they look horrible! like they glitch and flicker like crazy sometimes. I hope its not like that in the full version. Or maybe theres no helping it.....they keep using these low res soft shadow effects on 360 games that look really bad sometimes. (GRAW, PDZ, Tomb Raider) guess its better than no shadows tho?.

That only happens sometimes in the helicopter, you rarely see it outside of there. The shadows are unbelievable in GRAW. In BF2, well, the shadows are always awful.

So what's the fantastically magical codec required to view this "oh so special" trailer?

I didn't like the demo either. If you've played BF2 on PC than Modern Combat just seems like a dumbed down port. The graphics are a bit better on 360, but the gameplay feels clunky on the console.

I have to agree though; much of the shadows in MC are bad enough to distract you from the game.

Yeh the shadows are annoying but I think the developer has already anounced it will be releasing a patch to fix them some time after release.

I don't think it's a bad thing to critisize them - when you're playing MC it really distracts your eye when they flicker and generally they bring down the tone of the graphics - which are generally very good.

If the game didn't have a current gen version it probably would've earned atleast an 8.8

I agree with Optimus. What's strange is that some games receive high praise despite being ports. Look at Burnout Revenge on the Xbox 360? Visually, it's not really a step up from the Xbox version. It had 10 new crash junctions and a new "Revenge Rival" feature for online play. But it's pretty much the same game. Does it suffer critically because of this? No, the critics still lavish it with massive scores. Battlefield MC comes along with greatly enhanced visuals, a few new maps and, most importantly, netcode that ACTUALLY WORKS and it's mauled for being a port.

Sad.

I've got the game. If you have Xbox Live and you're into FPS... you need this game. It's the best multiplayer shooter on the console.
