Last Musou game i played was Hokuto no Ken, that was complete fucking garbage. Is this any better? I'm curious about it, but i don't want to fork out 60 bucks if it's as anemic as Ken's Rage :P

This one is easy!

If you played the game on Dreamcast and you are a fan of the short O.V.A. anime and you have fun playing Dynasty Warriors sub-genre games then you will really enjoy this game.

As for Hokuto No Ken...someone did not get the memo... Kenshiro can literally take on entire gangs single handedly...actually if a building is blocking his way, that building with break...hence someone did not understand how Hokuto no Ken as a Musou aka Dynasty Warriors was a well done game.

I have watched Hokuto no Ken and read other mangas by Buronson. Also, the Hokuto no Ken game looked downright boring as hell from all the trailers and gameplay videos I've watched.

And though I haven't played the Hokuto no Ken game, that pitch actually makes the game sound even more boring to me. That's like playing a game in God Mode, what's the fun in that? Now multiply that by dozens of hours and it would make most people insanely annoyed/irritated.

I hope Berserk and the Band of the Hawk is nothing like the Hokuto no Ken game and actually has substance to it. Though to be brutally honest - and some people will hate me for saying this, I have yet to have seen or played a "Musou" style game that is very good.

I don't hate the "Musou" genre or anything like that and have tried to get into it over the years, but all the Dynasty Warriors, Mobile Suit Gundam Musou, Dragon Quest Heroes, Samurai Warriors, Sengoku Basara and other Musou games I've played were incredibly boring after 1-2 hours.

They are very simple design-wise and gameplay systems-wise, where you do the same thing over and over and over and over, again and again and again till you get numb and tired of so much dumb and stupid repetition. Sure, the characters have different fighting styles and weapons, and you can upgrade them and level up abilities to unlock new moves, but outside of that the repetition of killing thousands of mindless AI crappy soldiers over and over just kills the fun of these games for me.

I just need something more from games, but to those that enjoy Musou games: have fun!

KORNdog and while neir was on the 360. how did it sell on that platform compared to the PS3. if the split was something like 9:1 would you bother with xbox again if you were the dev? (2 minutes ago)
  • Sdarts
Sdarts But I also believe there's a resistance by many Japanese developers, because the Xbox never made it in Japan and also probably because Microsoft never made strides to build better relationships with (2 minutes ago)
  • KORNdog
KORNdog @Sdarts: when they had more options (see lost oddysey and blue dragon) they didn't buy them in high enough numbers to warrant sequels, which says to me it's the former. (4 minutes ago)
  • Sdarts
Sdarts Games like Persona 5, Nier: Automata and Nioh should have been released on XB1. Nioh is a Dark Souls clone, the original Nier was on X360. And Persona 5 would sell well on XB1, since it's a great game (4 minutes ago)
  • Sdarts
Sdarts @KORNdog: Perhaps, but are JRPGs just not popular with XB1 owners or just because there's not many to choose from? I believe the latter is the most probable reason. (5 minutes ago)
  • KORNdog
KORNdog it's one thing to have the install base. but it's another to have enough people within it willing to buy your game. these japanese devs clearly don't feel it's worth the effort of porting the game. (6 minutes ago)
