KOEI TECMO EUROPE OFFICIALLY ANNOUNCES WESTERN RELEASE OF
THE MOST BRUTAL WARRIORS GAME TO DATE:
BERSERK (WORKING TITLE)

Slash and Smash through Enemies and Environments Alike in Game Based on the Iconic Manga and Anime Series ‘Berserk’, Headed to PlayStation®4, Windows PC, and PlayStation®Vita

Hertfordshire, 15th July 2016 — KOEI TECMO Europe is excited to confirm today the upcoming European release of Berserk (Working Title), Omega Force’s most brutal Warriors title to date based on the iconic manga and anime series Berserk. Slated to release this fall for the PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system, and digitally for the PlayStation®Vita handheld entertainment system and Windows PC via Steam®, KOEI TECMO’s interactive entertainment rendition of Berserk will closely follow the events of the most well-known story arcs from the iconic manga’s narrative, focusing on the daring and heroic life of Guts as he cuts his way through a sinister realm of magical and demonic fiends.

Berserk (working title) will fuse the signature ‘one versus thousands’ style action of the long-running Warriors franchise with the grim and gruesome atmosphere of the world of Berserk. As players harness the power of Guts’ Great Sword and utilise the swift and agile swordplay of Griffith to slash and smash through hordes of enemies, players familiar with the Warriors series will be able to feel the difference in gameplay through the way each character handles combat. The game will also incorporate various battle mechanics to better bring the world of Berserk to life, such as Magic and Transformations.

Written by Kentarou Miura, Berserk is a world-renowned series set in a world enveloped in darkness and deception. Its profound story is told through the lives of its fascinating characters, focusing on Guts, a lone mercenary, and Griffith, the leader of a mercenary group known as the ‘Band of the Hawk’. With mind-blowingly detailed drawings, visceral themes of human nature, and gripping storytelling, Berserk has fascinated and influenced many fans worldwide, placing it at the pinnacle of the dark fantasy genre.

Hisashi Koinuma, President of KOEI TECMO GAMES and Producer of Berserk (Working Title) has released the following statement:

“We are finally able to unveil our collaboration between Berserk and the Warriors series. In this game, players can experience and immerse themselves into the world of Berserk as the main character Guts, wielding his powerful weapon Dragon Slayer mercilessly slashing enemies in half, and through the massive story beginning with the Golden Age arc. The game content will be enjoyable even to those who don't normally play games, so we hope all fans of Berserk will give this game a go. Become a member of Guts and his group, and experience the exhilaration of the most lethal Warriors game within the intense world of Berserk.”

Berserk (Working Title) is currently in development by Omega Force and slated for a Fall 2016 launch on the PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system, as well as digitally on the PlayStation®Vita handheld system and Windows PC via Steam®.

More information about the game’s plot, original content, and playable characters will be unveiled in the coming weeks. KOEI TECMO Europe has released a first batch of assets showcasing the main characters Guts and Griffith, in-game cutscenes, and violent hack-and-slash action featured in Berserk (Working Title), as well as a trailer featuring the protagonist Guts engaged in combat.

The action view and the gore and blood reminds me of NG2 and NG3, thats good.
I wonder how the combat and combos will be like.

It was? Looks like complete fecal matter in every let's play i've seen. Or was that just irony? Internetz, can't tell :P

That said, they should just license it to Fromsoft at this point. the Souls games are so full of Berzerk references and nods that it's ridiculous :)

NG... NG... *thinking*
*shrugs*
Is that why there's not much response to your post? Try to use more letters, take an example from Megido's mentioning of DMC. :)

When someone types "NG" + action game...usually is Ninja Gaiden :)

Not too bad i suppose. If it's anything like the Dreamcast game count me totally in. would also love to see a Ninja Gaiden trilogy Remaster/Remake on all platforms + PC.

I hope this will be better than the newly-aired eponymous anime series which has awfully gone 3D... It's no compare to the original 2D Berserk anime series back in 1997.

It had nice graphics and was alright for the time, but it really didn't age well. Ps2 Berserk is repetitive af, but combat is tighter and way more spectacular. There is a fan translated version if you want to get the story.

.. and the demon horde came forth, lathered in their hatred of all things that is good, then glared and the black mar spiked in solid iron hair of steel, rage, blood lust eyes, and wonder screaming ... fuck yea it's about damn time they made another of these games!!! :D

Dark Souls was inspired by Demon's Souls on PlayStation 3 which was inspired by King's Field on PlayStation 2 and PlayStation 1 which came out in the early days of PlayStation YEARS before Berserk was made into a manga or anime or videogame.

So sad...people who didn't buy games new when they released to experience them and just wait for bargain bins...

Berserk on Dreamcast stood out not just because it was localized but because it was a different type of game back in the day that made you say DAMN!!

But again people like you...no wonder Shenmue failed.

You know Berserk manga debuted in 1989 right?
And Demon's/Dark Souls is a spiritual successor to King's Field, but visually it's partially inspired by Berserk.

If i could have killed Shenmue off i would have done it before 2 was released. Shenmue sucks. Besides, what are you even whining about you weeb? Shenmue 3 got like a gazillion dollars on kickstarter, so we can see some more of Ryo's inane adventures of asking about black cars and driving forklifts.

Also yeah, as Cloud pointed out, Berserk predates the first kings field by about 5 years. What a great fan you are, eh? :P

I wrote the art design, not the entire gameplay and everything else but maybe you missed that.

Anyway here you go.

Don't get your hopes up. This will play like shitty Dynasty Warriors. Besides gfx also look like poo. Defo not the Berserk I was anticipating.
