Binary Domain will be available in about two weeks now and SEGA just released a new trailer focusing on multiplayer. We must say we are pretty curious to see what the game has to offer. What about you?

Seriously, this game is looking really cool.

Massive shame that they didn't put the demo up on the European Marketplace/PSN, as I would have loved to try this out. Unless they have now?

This game IMO looks amazing, will buy.

Demo was (and is) available at japanese PSN, though there's no multiplayer option in it. There is an interesting thing about singleplayer - that you can record commands using the headset and during the game shout those commands to your AI controlled buddies instead of inputing the same commands with controller. Demo was pretty much okay (few things I liked, few things I didn't like about it - it's still okay overall) but I'm not sure if I want to play it alone. Still if some of my friends will get it I'll buy it too just for the sake of good multiplayer fun like we had in Lost Planet 2 for example.

visuals can be pretty bad, but the mechanical models are really good.

I hate to be harsh with your guys positive comments but this game looks like a Gears of War clone. Like it's not even trying to hide it. Aiming, shooting, the weapons, movement, cover, even some of the map layout looked like maps I've played.

There is a lot of things in this game that maks it very different from Gears games, so now every TPS game with cover is a Gears clone? lol.

I've gotta disagree with you on that. Third person cover system, sure, but the movement is a lot faster and more fluid. I think there's some neat little mechanics in there which is enough to differentiate itself from Gears - like the 'Loyalty' system, which looks really cool.

It's not just cover man

The aiming, movement, everything. Even the guns make me think of Gears.

No one else sees that?

Look at the executions too!
If I stripped out all the interesting art, character design, and what little color Gears had, this is the game you'd be left with. Basically Gears sans style.

So ME games, Vanquish and pretty much every cover TPS is a Gears clone.

Alrighty then.

Vanquish looks entirely different. That's just silly. There are plenty of TPS covers that look entirely different which is what I'm saying.

This game is completely blatant and lacks anything original about it. SORRY TO SAY
All you need is a Marcus Phoenix character model in there and it's production values are the only thing separating them

What about the thing blmbox mentioned above?

You seem to have ignored that part, also the way the damage is done to robots is not in a lot of games if not in any game I can remember, the AI is way better too, this game if anything borrow more from ME than from Gears but it seems you already set your mind in thinking is not worth of anything.

Sadly, all of those games you mentioned also remind me of Gears. I like the way Gears handles on consoles, but I do sorta get how one could get sick of its influence.

"Lacks anything original" is what I think you have no idea what you are talking about and then you start going off and say it copies Gears of War which isnt exactly original in "simple design" either.

Though of course when I see it in simple design like running around in third person, cover, d-pad weapon switch, thats about it really.
Taking the simplest shooter designs to a bigger proportions to say "its a copy" is nonsense IMO.

Gears have tank like movement controls, this dont. Its more fluid and smooth to move around in this game, and you can command your team around with various stuff for them to do and they will change their attitude depending how you treat them in combat.
Enemies that gets their parts blowned off will still come after you and blow up and a kamikaze move.

This game offers small touches like that that sets itself apart from Gears of War.
In Gears all you do is cover, shooter...rinse and repeat.
I agree with Raptor by saying this is closer to Mass Effect considering you can order your team around, has light RPG design to it.

Also, Gears of War reminds me of Kill.Switch. Oh wait :P

Commands aren't necessarily an RPG element, they're a Strategy element. Especially in a game like this.

Movement looks very much the same, especially when carrying weapons. Aiming looks the same, guns behave the same.

In Gears your opponents aren't necessarily dead once shot either. Then comes in the executions that look the same when they're down.

We can argue this all day. I realize plenty of TPS games get a hard time for "copying Gears". On this occasion though, to me, it's not just the cover system (which most people ride), it's basically everything with the exception of the terrible player models and terrible art direction.

Also go ahead and make the ME comparison. That's fine. That franchise shit the bed for me too since it became more like a generic action shooter just like this game. Granted ME still holds onto scraps of RPG elements, but oh well.

This game is generic and will be forgotten among the sea of big name titles in no time. Don't worry guys.

Reminds me a lot of quantum theory in the sense that you see their inspiration a mile away, to the point it's almost insulting. Both of which are japanese attempts at the gears of war formula, neither of which look like they quite 'get it'. Meh, i'm with tinks. Will be forgotten within a week. Bargain bin prices within 2 months. Calling it now. £17.99 at zavvi before the end of april....

Of course you think this.

No surprise here, no wonder we will get pure western crap like Uncharted and Gears from now on.

yeah, western developers making western games better then the japanese....shocking stuff eh...totally surprising...lol.

Western developers make better shooters just like Japanese developers make better action hack and slash games, been like this since forever.
Commented on 2012-02-14 15:05:49
The shooting looks on par and probably above many western shooters games so I don't actually see it the way you do.

My problem how?

If I can enjoy diversity and games from all over the world, if anything is your problem cause you can't enjoy other countries take on games.

Like if you go to a rental video store and you only like movies made by westerns, same thing.

no. i just know that western developers make BETTER western games (note: not the only good ones) there is yet to be a western gears rip off that was better then gears...and that's coming from someone who doesnt even LIKE gears of war. they try, but ultimately fail at it.
