Bioshock is golden

Bioshock is golden

2K Games announced yesterday that the Playstation 3 version of Bioshock has gone gold and will hit Europe on the 17th of October. A demo will be released on the PSN on thursday, and a couple of images can be found inside.

2K Games press release:
2K Games announced today that BioShock® for PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system has gone gold and will be available at retailers across North America on October 21 and internationally on October 17. Additionally, PLAYSTATION 3 system owners will be able to experience their first foray into Rapture with the release of the playable demo, available for free download from the PlayStation®Network starting Thursday, October 2.

Developed by 2K Marin, 2K Boston, 2K Australia and Digital Extremes, BioShock for the PLAYSTATION 3 system contains all-new content that augments and extends the experience in exciting ways. BioShock for the PLAYSTATION 3 system contains new features such as the inclusion of the Survivor difficulty mode, Trophy support and the addition of all-new Add-On Game Content that will be available for download shortly after launch. Pricing and availability for Add-On Game Content will be specified at a later date.

BioShock is a narrative-driven action experience that allows players to do the impossible as they journey through an amazing, immersive and terrifying world. Caught between powerful forces and hunted down by genetically mutated citizens, the player will come to grips with the mysterious and fascinating world of Rapture, a distinct Art Deco underwater utopia gone mad. BioShock not only challenges players’ capacity to adapt and survive, but brings to question their values and relationships with the inhabitants of Rapture. With smart and adaptive AI, no encounter ever plays out the same way twice, while numerous customization options provide gamers with an experience that adapts to their playing style.

BioShock for the PLAYSTATION 3 system will be available at North American and international retailers on October 21 and October 17, respectively, and is rated M for Mature by the ESRB. Available now on the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and Games for Windows®, BioShock was the recipient of more than 50 Game of the Year awards from prestigious outlets such as the Associated Press and Game Informer Magazine.

The Playstation Nation will no doubt be in awe of this terrific title... Played the DEMO about a week ago.. not sure if this will be the DEMO released through PSN.

I dig the title screen... but all else doesn't mark up quite as well as on the Xbox 360.

There are many bland textures strewn through out the DEMO and a framerate hiccup here and there... Lightning isn't as impressive as well...

BUT who cares... right? Now go buy the game!!!!!!

I might purchase the PS3 version simply for the title screen.... AWESOME!

Yeah it seems like they where a bit sloppy with the conversion, but it is still a must buy for those who missed out on the pc/360 version.
Last years GOTY in my humble opinion, play it late at night in a dark room ;)

My first post yeahhh
Bakutheswede, Bioshock is no survival horror to require play at night, alone and dark room, lol.

best game of last year on the 360 for me this... and thats saying something when it was up against Mass effect.

All those ps3 owners that were rating this as rubbish when it was a 360 exclusive need to swollow their pride and give it a chance as it truely is one of those rare awesome games that creep out every few years

I really cannot decide between which version to but, ps3 or PC. I like the controllers and content but it seems unclear how it holds up to the 360 version, I keep hearing equal or better in previews, then first review said worse (not by much but still) guess I may need both...?

If you haven't had the chance to play this yet, you have to take up this opportunity to play it. Seriously.

I still remember when I booted it up for the first time - the opening scene when you're in the water... I just couldn't believe it wasn't a cut-scene.

heh Im playing the game on max settings on the pc...and Im not sure how in the hell this game can't look the same on consoles...it looks great and plays nicely, but technically its not that impressive...especially next to crysis warhead which Im also playing.

Anyway, the game is fun, but the gunplay isnt that impressive...I also, prefer more free form environments, so on the gameplay hook its suffered next to my play throughs on crysis

The game runs at max PC details on a 360 at 60fps (not completely steady) without vsync. The only thing is if you're playing it on PC in DX10 max details, the shadow mapping is a little better & there is slightly better water 'splash' effects.

Based on these shots the PS3 version looks a little blurry, like it's being upscaled.

looks just as good as i remeber it on the 360...still gotta complete it one of these days.

Whatever. I'd play it if it were playstation 1 gfx. probably not true, but still. Very fond memories. especially since I sold my 360 and now it has gone into the "Wish I could play that again" state. love that.

I played Bioshock on the 360 last year, good storyline but boring gameplay to me.... I felt like i was fighting the same 2 enemies the whole time (crazy-ass man, crazy-ass woman) lol

But like the other guy said Mass Effect was def. my favorite game last year :D
btw any people who missed this title should at least rent it, its pretty short

I might rent this to see the new stuff, I'm not sure if it warrants me buying the game again if I have the 360 version.

Judging game graphic only by looking on the images/screenshots is one of the biggest mistakes on this generation of consoles.

totally agree, the textures look lower res and just doesn't look as clean and crisp as it did on the 360 version, but great game nonetheless for 1 play through and maybe another a few months later.

Nice game but a year old. I'm waiting for the sequel. Not a ps3 version. Like many of us : played it. absolutely loved it. But finished it.

Next please!
