It's almost impossible to find the Artorias DLC without googling. Was just too many things that needed to align to open the portal.

From what i've read this one is simpler, but you still need to backtrack and look in a specific area after triggering specific events earlier.

Sony even put up the steps on how to access the DLC in their patchnotes:

They give you access to it pretty early, but the DLC is very tough for me. I mean, it's doable, but the difficulty is a fairly big jump from when you can first access it. Fun so far though, seems to be very well made :)

The problem i had with the Artorias DLC was that the difficulty wasn't in line with the maingame. When i finally got down the final boss of the abyss the rest of the game was a cakewalk. 1-shot the final boss in the game even though i played like crap. It was my first playthrough and the DLC was accessible about halfway through, but i waited till almost the end of the game before i went there.

Just sounds like you must have suckd ass at the game and got to Manus at like level 300 or something. It's basically impossible to one-shot manus anyway, so i know you are just talking shit :)

But yeah, the Artorias DLC is doable from mid-game at regular NG without much trouble. Don't see how that's a problem though.

I suppose one-shotting gwyn is possible, but you'd have to use every single available buff in the game in some sort of crazy one-shot build and that, you didn't do legit on your first playthrough. Like power withing, RTSR, resin/dark moon blade, hornet ring and like maybe a maxed out Demon Great Zxe. Are you telling me that's what your first time build looked like? Don't quite buy it :)

I said i had trouble with the final boss of the Abyss, which is Manus. After that i went straight to Gwyn and got him on the first try. (I meant 1-try, not 1-shot, so my bad there. :))

The problem was that the i had leveled up just one weapon, and that was (unfortunately) resisted by Manus, making him take very little damage. I then went back and maxed out another weapon. He was still not a pushover, but atleast then i did normal dmg. I also found out (after a while) that summoning Sif really made the fight harder as some of his attacks were less predictable when you had the wolf running around triggering stuff.

Don't remember what level i was, but it wasn't higher than most people from what i read at the time.

Actually i have to correct myself, you can totally one-shot Gwyn. Dark bead, manus catalyst, rtsr/power within and boom, like 6k damage :P

Well i'd say somewhere between 50 to 70 is "normal" soul level at the end of the game. Most blind players or souls first-timers get by far higher than that because they die a lot and grind to compensate for sucking. Also summoning sucks. Ruins the fights. Manus can be tricky. Once you get his gimmick though, he's not that tough.

But yeah, if you don't know how to parry-cheese Gwyn and you still got him on the first try, i'm guessing you were quite a bit higher than what you get for just spending the souls you get from bosses and such.

I played the game offline, so i had no player summons. I had played Demon's Souls a couple of times (including NG+) before, so i wasn't a complete souls-newb.

I didn't have any big problems in the game before i met Manus. I don't remember the details now, but it was something about having problems identifying the visual cues from his attacks, and getting the roll timed correctly. that combined with the fact that my weapon did very little damage to him, resulting in a very long fight, which didn't help. I didn't have any big problems elsewhere in the game, and in Bloodborne i got most bosses within a few tried (going in blind, no guides).

I'm probably gonna play The Old Hunters DLC for bloodborne, but i feel it's too early to play the whole gamle again for me, so it will probably be sometimes next year (after Dark Souls III). The Artorias DLC had some of the best bosses in any -souls game imo, so i hope this Bloodborne follows that tradition.

Started playing the DLC area a bit more now and god f**king dammit, some of the enemy placements are so dickish. Like take the fucking machine gun guy from Old Yarnham, stick him in a long corridor and there you go. Frustrating, full with tough enemies and a fucking mile to run when you get bullshit camped to death as well? Obviously :)
