This game is gorgeous. That shot on the border of the lake is stunning. Hopefully we'll see this in a comprehensible language before 2008.

What makes these pics so awesome, is the incredible lighting. In a Gamespot interview they say they're using some kind of global ilumination simulator. The results are there and this could translate in a huge improvement in future games visuals IMO.

I should be buying some glasses then. I can't spot a single difference with Final Fantasy X actually.

I look at this and I look at Dragon Quest VIII and I want to play them so badly, but I just can't stand the average RPG's fighting mechanics. The Final Fantasy style of being jumped by invisible enemies and faced off against beasts devoid of personality, just to press myself through menus (and at the same time somehow focus enough to not die) only to be put on a field again, running around just waiting for the next random invisible encounter makes me want to lie down and cry.

I'm not saying the system is wrong or bad (badong?), because that would just be arrogant and silly of me when so many people obviously enjoy it, but for me it's a torture like grinding bore-fest that I can't for the life of me endure.

Grandia and Panzer Dragoon Saga were both awesome, but that's basically as far as I enjoy "turn based" fighting. Other than that I prefer the likes of Fable and Zelda to anything.

Maybe I can take classes or go see someone about this compulsory hate for turn based RPG combat, It'd open up a whole new genre for me.

Agree on everything but the comparison between Zelda and Fable. The last has been the biggest gaming delusion of these years for me.

This is the game that's going to do the 360 justice in Japan. Along with Lost Odyssey. Mark my words.

I hate the way some people can't appreciate any graphics except for "realistic" graphics. These people do not know how to rate graphics technically with what is going on, they simply base graphics on how "realistic" something looks, it really annoys me.

Another thing I hate is people comming in to discuss games like this, only to say "I hate turn based RPGs". Ok so you hate them...then why are you posting at all? Do you think we care if you hate or love them?

These two types of people do have some crossover and tend to post silly statements about games like this. Oh well, I suppose there are a percentage of idiots in all groups of life. I just don't understand why they feel the need take away all doubt. I'm honestly not trying to flame people...but it just seems that anywhere you go in regards to Xbox these silly comments appear.

As for this game, yeah it looks really impressive, and we still haven't even seen any videos of it yet. That water is amazing looking, and the character models are really smooth and well modeled. Sakaguchi said the games visuals are approaction a "claymation" kind of style. And from these and the older scans I can certainly see it.

Well, if you read my post properly (people never do, they find one thing they want to comment on and go do that without putting it in the context of the rest I write) you'd know that I want to play this. I want to play this and Dragon Quest VIII specifically because I think they look great. I curse the fact that I find it so hard to enjoy the combat, because I REALLY REALLY WANT to.

I'm not saying I hate turn based RPGs, I'm basically saying the contrary. I love them, but I can't enjoy them.

I suppose that makes little sense though, so I can't really blame you.

[edit: to avoid all confusion I'll just state one simple comphrehendible thing; I think this game looks awesome and I love the designs by Akira Toryama.]

Wow. I'm not impress. Akira's art style died on me with Tobal No. 1 and Dragon Ball Z. I guess Tecmo and Rare would NEVER get away with graphics and character design like this. I'm looking forward to N3 and Lost Oddysey.
