Activision released this trailer of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, presenting the multiplayer mode in the game. The PC version will support up to 32 players online, while the console versions might be less than 16.
Looks lovely graphics and stuff..but whats with all the stop-drop and pistol stuff? Its like every guy he comes across shoots him then he drops and pistols their ass.....

It's not so much a memory issue as it is a bandwidth issue, concerning the number of players on Xbox 360 games. Serving a 32+ player game requires a lot of bandwidth, preferably on an async connection. There's no way to guarantee that sort of presence on Xbox live without dedicated servers.

It's called "Last Stand."
With Last Stand, you’ll get one last ditch effort to continue the fight before you bleed out, or take another lethal hit. When you customize your class with Last Stand, or choose a default class which has it, anytime you’re taken down, you’ll fall to the ground and instantly pull out your side arm.
While in Last Stand, you’ll be firing your side arm from the ground with one hand. Putting up one final last stand against the enemy before you bleed out, or they put one final round into you.

I think thats what Cowards way out is. Once you take a certain amount of damage, you drop to the floor. Now you can either use your pistol to kill the enemy with your last efforts or you can press 'X' to take the cowards way out
old video but yea it looks great...also i prefer 16 player because it makes the game feel more intence were as 32 player would just be rush kill rush kill

Is a dedicated server for Xbox360 something we will never see?
I really have no clue about this, so any info would b greatly appreciated :)
Thnx
I think it's up to the publisher/developer of the game to put up their own, or add it as a feature in the software (some Xbox 1 games let you run them in dedicated server mode -- requiring an Xbox and a copy of the game to do so). It's probably cheaper and easier to just use the systems that MS has in place for developers already though.
I think the whole "PC version will have more than 360 version" is complete bullsh*t. CoD3 had 24 player on the console version, so this probably will too. If not, it doesn't really matter; I rarely play games that have more than 16 players.
How many players did Resistance have again? A ga-billion players? Theres no excuse as to why all xbox versions of games have ½ the players of what PC players get.

Why would it be bullshit? The Xbox game will be peer-to-peer, servers will be run off of someones Xbox 360 in your game, and not some dedicated server with tons of bandwidth.
I don't think it's that bad though, COD2 with 32+ players (there are 64 player servers) is a bit too chaotic anyway.
I think that the player limit is due to voice chat being the only form of communication. With 8 people on your team it is often hard to communicate without starting an argument, double the number and people will shout and scream just to get heard.
ah less than 16 players? sucks....anyways yeh pc gets 32 mainly coz of dedicated servers.....i play original cod on pc on 36 player servers with 0% lag and i've also played 64 player servers with no lag at all....wish console multiplayer was like that

Resitance haves more players cause the developers are hosting the games , but games that are hosted by players lag a bit after certain amount of players.
Xbox Live is a peer-to-peer service, unless the developers go for something else.
Battlefield 2: Modern Combat had dedicated servers. It's just up to what the developers feel is necessary. Most of the high-quality PC servers are rented 3rd party, or set up by gaming websites, with only a small number actually being from the developers. Xbox Live doesn't have that sort of open infrastructure, so it's either dev. servers, or p2p.
Blackhawk Down on the Xbox had support for 50 players, so again, it's merely developer choice. I personally don't feel the need for dedicated servers is needed at present, although I'd enjoy a Battlefield/Armed Assault-esque game.
This 16 player limit isn't limited to 360 either, the PS3 version will also be the same.
16 players will be fine. I almost puked when I saw that gears was only 4 players per side as I was used to massive online battles on the PC with battlefield etc... but when I actually played gears online I loved the 4 a side. I suppose it's all down to who you play along side as well.
Limitations will remain aslong as XBL is a closed system and games have to follow the rule of the lowest common denominator (bah!)..
It's just one of the reasons why I still prefer playing FPS games on my PC.. No BS with lowest common denominator limitations on that platform, open environment with a lot more (free!) 1st and 3rd party stuff like extra maps, models and mods etc, 1st and 3rd party dedicated server support, and most important for me, much better controls.. FPS on consoles has come a long way, but it's clearly still not at the PC level..
Dedicated server support can and will probably be added to XBL in the (near?) future, but free 3rd party content and mouse+keyboard support I don't see happening anytime soon (they want to keep selling premium content on their service, and M+K support creates to much balance issues).. So it looks like I won't be giving up playing FPS (and RTS) on the PC anytime soon, and offcourse I will buy the PC version of CoD4.. My Xbox 360 will play games like Forza 2 and GTA-IV etc..

Is this due to fully integrated voice-chat on console?
Or is this due to dedicated servers available for PC, but not for consoles?
best regards,

memory might be an issue
