Castle Crashers is completed

Behemoth has just announced that their work on Castle Crashers is done - the game is now shipped away to Microsoft for "at least a couple of months" of testing. The devblog post also states that the game will be the largest storydriven game on Xbox Live Arcade, and as you will see on the pretty images the bears are white.

i assume they've added more characters to choose from, and have not scrapped the 4 element based knights, right? cos that would suck. even if it is the longest story driven game on XBLA...i'm not buying it if its more then 800.

Yes because spending 10 dollars is so much money for a quality game??

About time. I'll be all over this--and I hate DRM.

Anyone else reminded of Guardian Heroes when they see this game? It looks just as fun to me.

same. while i LOVED old school side scrolling beat-em-ups like streets of rage, double dragon etc, its not a genre that has aged very well for me, with the only thing pulling me back to play the likes of streets of rage in this day and age is nostalgia. im not sure how a new game using those old school gamplay mechanics is going to feel. im definately willing to give it a go tho. its one of the only NEW arcade titles i've liked the look of...i just hope it isnt too pricey.

Most beat'm ups haven't aged well, because they were never very good games. There are plenty of exceptions though. Streets of Rage is better than any if not all of the Konami entries into the genre, but it's still not as good as Capcom's fantastic D&D games, or something like Guardian Heroes. There's no reason that this game can't be compelling just because of the genre that it's set in, so long as it's a good deal deeper than trash like TMNT.

Hopefully this is a sign of custom create characters

I think I've seen mention (and a screen that suggests as much) of loads of unlockable characters in the past. These are probably a few of those characters.

About the game

What's up?

GriftGFX And Hawaii probably won't do anything either because banning games in Hawaii would be a seriously shitty thing for local consumers and not a whole lot of other people. (19 minutes ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX Thankfully Belgium isn't going to do anything without convincing the rest of Europe. (20 minutes ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX I hope this falls completely apart based on the (obvious) broadness of the issues they're dealing with and the implications it would have downstream. This is just silly. (20 minutes ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX What's a "perk"? This is a difficult thing to legislate fairly. You're basically asking the government to get into game design. Phew. (21 minutes ago)
  • droezelke
droezelke @GriftGFX: no, it's an attack on lootboxes with perks. That is also what Belgium is talking about. (24 minutes ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX @droezelke: The problem is: this isn't about "the EA model" it's a flat attack on "loot boxes", and that will harm consumers and good games. (29 minutes ago)
  • droezelke
droezelke @GriftGFX: I have been talking about the EA model the while time. And no, I'll never buy an EA game again if they don't become consumer friendly (30 minutes ago)
