Catherine in the US this summer

As we announced in express links yesterday, the weird Catherine will be released this summer in the US. Till then you can have a look at the teaser and images included in this news, or you can watch the first minutes of the game if you missed it.

Press Release :

IRVINE, CALIFORNIA - MARCH 1, 2011 - Atlus U.S.A., Inc. today revealed a Summer 2011 North American release for Catherine, a game in which "falling for a girl" is meant literally, for PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft.

"Catherine is an unprecedented exploration of the pleasures and horrors of love," commented Aram Jabbari, Manager of PR and Sales at Atlus. "As Vincent, a man recently succumbed to the irresistible beauty of the game's titular diversion, players find themselves swept into a treacherous love triangle. Catherine's core themes-those of free will, of the delicate nature of relationships and the choices we make within them, marry perfectly with the intense, terror-filled gameplay that serves to accurately reflect Vincent's growing sense of anxiety. It is an experience wholly unlike any to come before it, and is certain to leave gamers talking and thinking about Vincent's tribulations long after the credits have rolled."

Catherine is currently scheduled to release in Summer 2011 for PlayStation 3 system and Xbox 360 system. The game's official website, <06b9>http://www.catherinethegame.com, will launch soon, offering more details and media. Fans who want to get their hands on more of Catherine's goods should keep an eye out for exciting extras. More to come!

I played the Japanese PS3 demo of this and it's awful. The cut scenes are great but the game itself is a super basic block puzzle game. It should be 400MS Points and nothing more.

yeah. I do wonder if this game would get any attention at all if 12yr olds weren't getting off on the cartoon sex stuff. I mean i've not heard much in the way of the puzzles being brain teasing

Good news for sure. I generally like Atlus' games so this is most welcome and might be interesting as well, a mix between RPG, platforming and puzzles...sounds like an interesting enough idea, if executed right :)

Only this game is not for 12year olds as you so ignorantly put it, its a digital manga/anime story/puzzle/adventure game the publisher is taking a big risk putting it in the US and the target demographic is the videogame and Anime fans if someone gets this game expecting Call of duty type shooting and guns they are going to be very disappointed.
And 12 year olds are not supposed to be having access to 17 plus games don't they check ids at gameshops? or else the local and national news are going to have a field day with this game.

Sdarts The Witcher games - and books - aren't perfect, but nothing is. For what they are and what they have accomplished, I thank both the author and the developers from the bottom of my heart. (9 Hours ago)

Sdarts And it ran for years under the radar of almost everyone before the anime, then it suddenly became an enourmous worldwide success. In a way, the same happened with The Witcher books and the games. (9 Hours ago)
  • Sdarts
Sdarts @Megido: Just because certain works aren't very popular doesn't mean that they aren't great. Take for example Shingeki no Kyojin (Attack on Titan), the manga is even better than the anime. (9 Hours ago)

Sdarts @GriftGFX: English. And also listened to them in English. Same with Game of Thrones' books. (9 Hours ago)
  • Sdarts
Sdarts Although the games' writing isn't at the same level as the books', it's still far, far, far vastly better than 99% of the writing in games, movies, TV shows and books. CD Projekt RED did an epic job. (9 Hours ago)
