the little gameplay snippet at the very end looked promising gameplsy wise but there still isn't near enough colour and craziness. it's just a vast sea of snow, down a boring white mountain...where are the man made structures, the stands housing all the fans, the crazy grind rails, the difficult, but massively rewarding short-cuts, the colour dyed tracks, the wacky elements like loop-de-loops, city tracks or giant pin-ball machines? if this game is all boring white mountains then i'm gonna be brutally disappointed, and based on everything they've shown, i don't see it being anything but.

they used "believable" a few too many times for my liking too. i don't want real world gear, i don't want drab colours. who cared if they wore a Tshirt going down a mountain in past games? it's what gave each character...character. elise just looks boring now, like some over-designed "trying too hard" poser chick. seriously, look at the past iterations of elise on that design board. barely any use of black AT ALL, it was all about bright clashing colours and exaggerated style. "believable" isn't a word i'd associate with the SSX franchise and i dont see why it needs to rear it's ugly head now?

i WANT this game to kick serious ass since SSX was a killer app for me back when the PS2 launched, but the more they show, the more i think it'll be a def jam ICON-like failure. announce that it has an analogue stick trick system and it's dead to me...i predict that'll come in video number 5?

I hope it turns out good. And when anyone mentions def jam icon, my skin crawls a little.....

I hope it never gets as bad as def jam icon.

@Korndog:

Don't you think ur overexagerating a bit here?

If you have played all the games, which I think you haven't, you would know that black as a color is used on almost every character. If it wasn't their primary? then certainly their alternative costumes did. A combination of flashy colors and black.

As a loyal Elise-fan. (Canada rulez!) She has been updated every entry in a very good way. To me she still looks very much herself (including new outfit). Thats what she would wear now in 2011. (its still crazy I mean she's wearing a bat-suit as her alt. outfit)

That last bit of gameplay, actually didn't show anything. The game will be different from other SSX, simply because they can't be releasing the same SSX every entry. This is an era of change/reboots and SSX will go through some changes. It's harsh I know but c'est la vie.

In the end? it's still SSX and no Def Jam. I wouldnt mind if they simplified the game for new gamers. As long as they keep the non-simplified option in there for people who don't need it.

Looking forward to this. (that very first trailer really had me worried but all is good now)

Nice ski wear, really brings out the boobs. These game designers should work in the fashion industry.

@UKhardcore

Most people don't. But SSX is a massive exception for many of us, because the gameplay and the characters are so exceptional to the genre's typical outings. I don't buy sports games, but I buy SSX.

The original SSX was a great launch title for PS2, but SSX Tricky, the sequel, was what really kicked the series into excellence.

Check out the intro for SSX Tricky to get a feel for why everyone loved these games:

The first great snowboard game was good ole 1080 on the N64. I've always had a chip on my should when it came to sports games because I figured why sit on my couch and do something I could be doing in the yard? But, the game was actually really really fun. It was succeeded by SSX as a ps2 launch title, which was equally amazing. It had great visuals, fun gameplay, and an outstanding soundtrack. The game actually inspired me to try things on the slopes that I wouldn't have normally. In addition it sated my powder-lust in the off season. The series kinda hit a lull for a few installations, but hopefully they'll breathe some new life into it. Little can compare to the "fuck yeah" moment I had flying down the "untracked" course on the first SSX. The purist course with amazing music, here's to hoping they revive this series!

I think the wing suits or only for jumping off the helicopter when they drop you off the mountain from a high descents
