Page 1 2 >>Who actually gave Gamersyde these shots. At least one of them I KNOW to be from an Ultra High quality Crysis mod that runs at very low framerates on the best PCs. Some of these shots are NOT from CryEngine 3, and probably not from Crytek at all...
i don't want to judge until i watch it because from a lot of the screens it doesn't look like much of a jump from Cryengine2.
Thanks :)
can't wait to see the video :)

If it's the same video from IGN, it looks very unimpressive. City shots look well below old Unreal Engine 3 standards, really weak even for consoles. But like I say, it may take Crytek some time to get up to speed.
Seems theyve updated the lighting model a bit, looks more like the old images / vids of crysis when it was first announced (much denser lookin jungles with deeper greens and darker shadows to match).
Some of the city stuff as mentioned above looks a bit weak, but hey, at least theyre showing the engine can do that sort of stuff, in the past it looked like all it could do was open areas with jungles.
2) the one from the gdc demo are just snapshots from the hd video, which is 4 days old, and since they're double-compressed they don't look half as good as the direct feed ones will
VIDEO!
1) half of these shots come from cryengine2 user mods (they're even named like that on the source, you should have checked it), i remember seeing some of them months and months back

1) The 3rd screen here is from the first level of Crysis PC and they either got rid of a lot of vegetation, or the draw distance here is atrocious!
2) They need to work on the art in this game. Crysis can look so much better than it does. I've been browsing some mod/community forums and they can make the game look almost (almost within reason) photorealistic just by adjusting the time of day settings in the sandbox editor.
I'm waiting for this mod to release from some dude at the Crymod forums and the stuff he comes up with is unbelievable. All pretty much without performance hit. Check it out:

Xbox360 seems to have more realistic lighting

Hmm they should work on more mods, make mods of all good shooters using this engine, Halo with crysis engine, gears of war, half life, drooolllsssss...
Farcry 2 got the idea right though, that engine game actually looked interesting and warm. Everything in Cryengine just looks so dull.
Been playing Crysis lately on all very High settings and two things I noticed:

I think it looks like Crysis, crappy, grey and bland :P

Crysis is probably one of the most colourful games out there.
But in the forest looked good.
One thing I noticed was when the segment changed from 360 to PS3 in the scene with water and mountain...I personally thought PS3 version looked better there.
Ah well.
This is a tech demo and as any engine, early stuff looks bad or good, but thats why they keep improving the engine until it looks good and runs good.
My request is, make Crysis or Crysis-ish game on PS3. Make it look good for a console (KZ2 is hard to to beat), make it play good and run good, and I will definitely buy it.
CryEngine 2 is really impressive, there really isn't any competition right now. This new engine would be interesting to see running on PC to see how much improvement they have made for performance.
The sandbox editor was really great too, I would even say the best map editor what I have tried so far. Really powerful and easy to use.
And I'm pretty sure some of those screens are from Crysis mods.
