Looks great, can't wait to play this. Though i suppose i should be a bit careful with overhyping the game. Don't want to get in to that situation like Dark Souls 2 again where i feel super disappointed by the game for a long time. Well, as long as it's on par with Dark 2 i'm happy, i guess :)

i'd hope it was better then that tbh. i really didn't like that game. i hear it's more dark 1 meets bloodborne though. which sounds great. sadly i'm a bit done with this template for a while.

as long as it is close to dark 2 dlc's quality it would be pretty good then ;p Tbh i'm not all that hyped this time, so highly doubt it'll disappoints me :)

Yeah, i HOPE it's better but that's kinda where i'm putting the bar for acceptance. If it's worse than Dark Souls 2, then the series is dead in my opinion. I mean, let's face it. It's NOT the original Souls team working on this, they have been busy working on Bloodborne and the DLC. Becasue of that i'm not expecting it to be on the level of Dark or Demon's souls.

Dark Souls 2 had me really put off at first, but after coming to terms with what it is (sounds so dramatic, but my hype was off the f**king rails for it) it grew on me. Certainly not as good as the games before it, but still a better and more interesting gaming experience than most action/RPG type games out there. Flawed for sure, but still quite enjoyable. IF Dark 3 manages to deliver that, at least, then i will be happy.

The strong art direction of the souls-games really shines on current gen. For me, no one comes close to From Software when it comes to a dark fantasy setting.

The two bosses i've seen in action from DSIII looks just awesome.

I seriously can't get enough of these games. I haven't experienced any sequel fatigue yet. They can make one every year and I'd be happy.

The only downside is that From Soft isn't making Armored Core anymore.

Can't wait.
So happy they are making it play more like DS1 but with DS2 improvements.

No jaggies, otherwise i don't think it looks much better than BB. Tbh.

Zeroex; yeah, it's going to be interesting to see how it works out in the end. I'm a bit torn between the changes. Like the backstabs for example. They are by far easier and more satisfying in Dark 1, when going PvE. But they are completely broken in PvP. Dark Souls 2 fixed this, to where you have to work a bit harder for your backstabs, which i think is good. Works great in PvP, but it's kinda broken in PvE, because all the enemies spin like they are standing on record players making the backstab almost useless. Same with parries, essentially. The timing makes parries rather unfavorable in PvE, but makes spamming almost impossible in PvP, forcing you to really learn the right timing.

5 games in a series, all with tons of new content, spread over 2 generations of consoles is now considered milking? I suppose Scholar is approaching the milking thing, and i think it's kinda shitty, but generally i think they are putting out content at a reasonable pace.

it's definitely a milked concept, in the sense they latched onto it and that's now all they make and probably ever will make... people said it at this point with assassins creed i don't see why the souls series is exempt from the same thing. if the games felt fundamentally different to the extent of say...demon's souls and bloodborne. it wouldn't be so much of an issue but that isn't the case sadly. i'm definitely feeling franchise fatigue though.

To me all of the games so far have felt like substantially different experiences, and they've all added their own stuff to set them apart. Obviously they are all similar, but then...the big enjoyment i get out of the games are the different challenges and bosses, and cool exploration. If you really want to compare it to AC, i'd say that the difference in gameplay, exploration and challenges in the AC series is by far smaller than in the Souls series. Doing the same kind of chasing after a guy mission in AC vs facing a new boss in a Souls game is two totally different things imo.

I guess it comes down to the kind of content the Souls games deliver. A new series of areas and bosses that all look, feel and play differently from eachother i will always find more appealing than the sort of mission structure that something like AC has, hence i get sick of it a LOT faster (in the case of AC).

But you know, if you don't want to play more Souls, you don't have to. Speak with your wallet :P

Well, 3 series in fact. Demon's Souls, Dark Souls and Bloodborne. Although, Dark Souls is a rebrand to be able to publish games on PC and Xbox.
Well, they are all in the same series really though. I mean, trying to claim that Demon's and Dark are two separate series is just silly. Same with trying to separate Bloodborne form the rest. Still i just have such a hard time seing the Souls series as being milked, personally.

...Other than the name, what makes Bloodborne in to something other than a Souls game? It's the exact same game, essentially, tweaked a bit. If you played a Souls game before BB you know exactly how the game works. Everything form the controls, to how leveling and weapons work, upgrades, to enemy designs and even things like crystal lizards/scurrying beasts. I'm sorry, but just switching the name to not fuck with copyright stuff is not the same as it being it's own thing. This might seem counter-intuitive to what i've been saying earlier, though i still think each game adds great content and improvements hence it's not milking imo.

If Capcom released a new game that is Street fighter IV but with two new characters and some balancing tweaks, and call it Super Fighter Street Warrior instead, would that then not be milking SF because it's a totally new series?

Haven't played Watchdogs so i can't say, looks like complete garbage. Does it have the same climbing, assasination, rooftopjumping, bullhsit collecting, hiding in crowds type gameplay? Made by the same team? Then i don't see the point of making any distinction.

Don't you see how powerful a brand name is? Brands are more important to the general public than developers are. If you have a powerful brand you can just hobble together a start-up and there ya go.

To me, saying that Bloodborne isn't a souls game is like saying that Super Mario bros. and Super Mario World aren't the same series, because they changed a word in the title. The fact that BB isn't a souls game is just a formality, nothing else.
