Announced at last year's TGS with the name Project Dark, From Software's spiritual successor of Demon's Souls is entitled Dark Souls and will be out this year on Xbox 360 and PS3. Update: 15 screens added.
Visually it looks much better than Demons Souls, and thank god that it has more colors and more light/daylight, makes us appreciate the levels much more.
Can't wait, I this Demon's Souls is 1 of the best Adventure Rpgs ever made.
As the spiritual successor, Dark Souls looks really promising on all fronts.
i want to buy demon's souls, been looking evrywhere to get it, but i can't find it in the shops here in france and england:( if i order it online with amazon, does it work on my ps3??? sorry for the stupid question, i just wanna make sure it works here.

It looks less like a spiritual successor and more like an actual sequel who can't call itself Demon's Souls 2 because it went multi-platform when the IP is owned by Sony, but uses the same engine as the original game and a similar art style and aesthetic. A spiritual successor is more like Xenosaga to Xenogears IMO.

Haha. It doesn't need to sell a few million to be successful (in fact, it probably won't get anywhere near two million). The original sold around one million and it was a success.
Hopefully, Namco Bandai is smart about this, and goes about localization the right way; i.e. with the cost efficiency of Atlus. That means not printing an obscene amount of copies and also offering a nice LE package for first day buyers. Of course, Namco Bandai isn't that smart and I WISH Atlus was handling the localization for the West.

I remember when demons souls was first shown here (before it got popular) o the hate it got, it's funny to see how that turned around. I bought it on a whim about 2 months before it came out in europe and yeh I loved it, very cool game I hope this will be a proper sequel and not just a rehash/way to milk the series. Lets live and hope hey?

based on what i've heard about it. i'd take a rehashy game personally. as i said in the forums, darkness and gloom was part of what i loved about demon's souls. it was genuinely quite intense and freaky exploring a dark castle or prison. i can't imagine that same tension will be retained when it's broad daylight and the world is colourfull. apparently they've stripped the whole persistant online mode from the game too, instead opting for a more standard (and frankly boring) online co-op system (i'm betting due to the 360's closed network). world tendency, the thing that made it replayable and difficult is also gone. i dunno. doesnt sound like the "sequel" i want personally, even if it is by a different name, hence why i'm hoping sony pull their finger out and make a real sequel set in the demon's souls world, with demon's souls rules. i just want more of the same at this point, and this doesnt seem to offer that outside of it's combat system?!?
