Also, faster Live downloads, thank you very much.

Look like good improvements but I'd also like to see...
- ability to put a different custom picture on each blade (currently you can pick one that shows on all).
- better rewind/ff performance in videos (especially rewind).
- ability to skip stupid unskippable movie logos and warnings on DVDs and yes, even some games are doing that crap now.

That is something Microsoft would fix in a spring update. The Fall update is for random performance issues and enhancement that they decide need fixing. The spring update is all user request stuff.

does 1080p for vga mean you pick resolutions between 720p and 1080p, like 1440x900? My monitor is widescreen and runs at that res.

Unfortunately, it's not a priority for MS to support 1440x900, because it's not technically 16:9, it's 16:10.
The majority of HD users needing higher resolutions will be using a regular HDTV, and not a monitor. I know, it sucks, my monitor is 16:10 too..

16:10 ratio is good lol. I pray for 1440x900 support mainly because your display always looks better at default res. Most pc games support 16:10 now so it wouldnt be a big ask. Afterall all the 360 is doing is resizing it to fit your display.

Sorry that's rubbish, MS support 1366x768 which is 16:10 through a VGA cable. (and a vast mahjority of HDTV actually use 1366x768 panals)

I would be interested to know if MS are supporting intermediate resoltuions also. (i doubt they will, as 1440x900 is a very odd resolution and only a handful of monitors use it)
