Whoa, that last pic is for those who say DOA is a button masher, it sure does look like a complex combo to me.
Still doesn't look like a nextgen fighting game to me, but maybe gameplay has improved.

I'm not him, but the models in VF5 (which is running in a board WAY less powerful than the XBox360) look better. And VF5 has photo-realistic self-shadowing, which only nails it home even harder.
Release date for Japan is Dec 17 and I believe the US is on that date or maybe a few days earlier. IGN's latest just said Mid-Dec.
It also has tiny fighting environments that you can't move from section to section in.
