I've been following this game for over a year now, and every time I see it, it gets just that much better.

They had me sold a year ago, when I realized these were the same people who made Crimson Skies - everything else since then, has all been icing on an already awesome cake.

I still don't like what I'm seeing. Hearing them talk about the vertical combat on and on in every dev diary, just makes it obvious that it's a gimmick. Just like the jet pack, which doesn't seem to be more then a gimmick. I'm sure it will be fun in a way, but to me it looks to be too much of a gimmick game.
There seems to be only one sort of enemy (some robot thing). And then the boss fights.

Yeah, care to elaborate how exactly this would be a gimmick?

I'm actually quite impressed on how this looks compared to the very first footage which looked like something pulled out of a Genesis cartridge.
Sure enough, the stages are 'alleyways' but that can be said for any shooter there days. The addition of bases you can fly into and scale vertically is a nice expansion and - the jet pack seems like a good way to make the shooting segments more dynamic, as you can approach any given enemy from all sides; certainly more entertaining than the stale Gears of War.
Difficulty and scale (production values) will be the deciding factors here I think - if the player will have to traverse the same area types and fight just one enemy it's going to go downhill really fast.

Why has it taken this long to finally feel what its like to be Boba Fett! its a decent idea to build a game around. the verticality seems a good resolution to the change in gameplay you get from a rocketpack. One of the most irrating things about the Unreal 3 rocketpack mod was hitting the glass ceiling

KORNdog @GriftGFX: i've been on about 7 types of anti depressants in the last 5 years. lol. it's anecdotal, but they work. they just usually come with some shitty side effect. (3 Hours ago)

GriftGFX Now with that said.. there's no cure. Most of these disorders are poorly understood, as is brain chemistry. And people like Chris Cornell were being treated. But results vary. Better than a sugar pill (3 Hours ago)

KORNdog i'd always recommend Prozac over a sugar pill. lol (3 Hours ago)

KORNdog @GriftGFX: that's why i said "can" there are instances of people having better results from a placebo than that of legit medication. i never said it was a replacement for it though. (3 Hours ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX Medicine is heavily skewed towards evidence here. We make pharmaceutical companies jump through hoops to prove efficacy and safety. *Not* with perfect results.. but it's pretty good. (3 Hours ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX There's plenty of scientific evidence that various psychoactive drugs are more effective than a placebo. They wouldn't pass the rigorous approval process in the USA without said evidence. (3 Hours ago)
