Images PS3

While waiting for the trailer, still not available on Sony's terrible press site, here are 5 God of War III images.
Update: Looks like the trailer was old, I've attached it to the news just in case.

nerd-gasm at that last screenshot, looks awesome, from the gore, the expression on the centaurs face...amazing stuff.

kratos's character model still blows me away.

the "zipper" tech on the centaur is amazing.

Game needs alot of work. Luckily it's not coming out soon. Graphics are weak.

The game didn't look great IMO. Loss of two main designers has taken a toll on creativity plus the collision detection looks extremely poor. Best of luck to Sony Santa Monica on their future endeavors but I think they can't work well without David Jaffe.

The graphics have improved since the last trailer we saw, but it's still not that impressive. It's clearly going to be all about the scale and scope, rather than the quality of the visuals.

If you think that, your in for a surprise, Heavenly Sword was and is one of the greatest looking games to date, if you don't think it can surpass that then your perspective is a bit jarred.

In a game proposed at 1080p with fixed fps swapping among 60 and 30fps(depending upon the need of content processing at one time onscreen), no loading, shadow of the colossus style gameplay(on and off huge moving bodies) with consistently shifting physics mechanics... these visuals rock!
I would take it any day over a game stuck within a corridor with only uber pretty textures and only 3-5 onscreen NPCs, and still stuttering.

It looks to play exactly the same as the last gen iterations...

Erm, okay? I think your perspective is "a bit jarred" if you think that this holds up to the likes of Killzone 2, Uncharted 2 or even Gears of War 2. Yeah, so there's a long time left until the game's release, but I can only comment on what I see - and what I see just isn't that impressive in terms of graphics, but is in terms of scope.

I'd also like to add that I said nothing about Heavenly Sword.

that's the best judgement we've had yet. and yeah thats 'quality of textures' you may say. for the visuals are awesome, the textures are mostly plain.
as the devs said, thy didn't want a scene to be over-crowded with normal and parallax mapped textures, they wanted a clean cut CG-art feeling for this game and it shines at that. no sadness there :)

No... I meant 'visuals' when I said 'visuals'. The effects aren't anything outstanding; the textures, as you say, are mostly plain; the art direction isn't anything spectacular; and the animations aren't the best you'll ever see (although they certainly aren't the worst either).

But there's nothing wrong with that, as I'm more interested in an epic scope for this type of game (which both the first two games had). Although, when you hear things like "this will push the PS3", "this is a painting come to life" and so forth, you can't help but giggle to yourself.

Not quite sure how some of you aren't impressed.

Not everygame has heavy textures, or infact needs them.

Thor you are quite correct, they want the models to stand out from the rest of the scene and it works perfectly. Go watch the e3 realtime footage, game looks awesome.

Sure there are things to clean up, but for what is shown at this early stage was pure magic. imo.

Don't even get me started on Uncharted 2 and GT5.

Best post so far.

I find this is usually a bad thing. It tends to give the game an inconsistent feeling with respect to its look. Luckily, I don't find it's much of an issue from the stuff I've seen.

I've never had much love for the God of War series. I just don't get it. Maybe I'm too old to get off on silly gore but the gameplay, while fun as hell, isn't anything amazing to me, going off the first two. The game only lasts so long and the second play through isn't really very exciting.

The odd part is that the first two looked so good, and this one doesn't even have the graphics part to brag about. I'm sure this will make a great rental and will be a fun beat 'em up game, but I can't really see why people get so pumped about a single player only game that doesn't have tons of reasons to replay the game unless you just really love it....

It plays well and it's fun maybe?

What's wrong with SP only games? Dead Space was my GOTY last year, and it was purely SP. I only played through it once, but that one time was better than the two or three times I would have played through some other games.

If you're talking value, then sure, SP only games with little replay value lose some points, but to me, that doesn't detract from that one play through that's hopefully awesome.
