Ubisoft just sent us this the commented version of the E3 gameplay video of Assassin's Creed III, and this time the quality is much better too, with 30 fps encoding instead of the 24 from last week...
I'm tempted to actually buy this, but i'm still worried the world, characters and story wont be very interesting like they havnt been in the past games. Love the new traversal methods tho. And the snow looks great.
Looks great. I'll be getting from a rental service as usual (never pay full price for games that are effectively SP only, except GTA).
KORNdog I think whether or not these are interesting or not is pretty subjective. I found the characters interesting, although only after Revelations which fleshed out Ezio and Altair more.

Hence why i said "personally?". Of course it is subjective...i just find it hard to recommend games i found so shitty.
I loved the first one,but unfortunately it has been all downhill from there imo.I gotta say this one is looking good tho.Too bad the last one was so horrible that i prob will stay away from this one.Btw,Ubi used to be awesome....what happened to the good ol days?
Animations are still the same(which is good on some points) but really !! no footprints in the snow ........
They should look @ Lost planet to see how to make decent snow.

No, they've made all the animations from scratch for this one.

There is footprints in the snow. It actually has a sort of terrain deformation thing going on. Hard to see in this footage, but you can see it elsewhere.
I have the entire series. Ezio didn't need 3 games. His character and motivations to do anything weren't interesting at all. Fortunately, the world that the terrible character is in is still fun to be in even Ezio gets so absurdly overpowered in Revelations when dying from falling off of buildings is more likely than in a fight. The low combat difficulty doesn't bother me though.

1000 people working on AC 3, and still didn't put in footprints in snow.
It's baffling how having that many developers still results in relatively mediocre games.
I'll just stick to Hitman games for the social stealth stuff, and sandbox assassinations.

Sorry I only read your first message which didn't say personally.
What I do find annoying about these games is usually how boring it is exploring the cities. Climbing is always the same but they couldn't really do a great deal about that at the time. The new options look great.
I like how 2 enemies can now attack you at once, combat too was very very samey. Wait for a counter opportunity. If anything I found that way too easy. Infact, the most annoying thing about the series was in Revelations for me with the damn musketeers! The amount of times I've been shot while climbing.

Multicounter doesnt really change anything anyway. I can't imagine countering 2 guys is mechanically any different then countering 1. It will simply have a different animation. Just like batman. You're still only pressing the "counter everything" button.
I think this looks absolutely fantastic. I never finished the first AC as it was boring as hell, so much that I didn't give the other ones a chance at all. Seeing this vid has me really excited though. The snow deformation, which is cooler than simple footprints IMO, looks awesome. The combat does look similar to the combat in Batman...which was probably my favourite video game melee combat of all time, so that's a plus for me. The animations involved in navigating the trees are killer. The only thing that stuck out to me as being just horrible was his interaction with the butcher or whatever at the completion of his question. No animations for handing things back and forth is lazy as fuck.
I have played only AC 2 and one AC is enough for me. This looks okay, different environment is nice change but I bet that gameplay is going to be boring after few hours (like in AC 2). And props to trying to get environment as organic as possible.

Still, I'm quite excited for this.
