E3: Battlestations Midway trailer

E3: Battlestations Midway trailer

Eidos released via the Marketplace this quite well done trailer of Battlestations: Midway. The game's concept is interesting, and it doesn't look bad.

The water looks good but then they ruin it by having overlaid textures of ripples and foam from the boats cutting through the water.

I would prefer to see some cool displacement mapping going on in these games.

As long as we see the planes only in the air it looks quite good, but other than that i am not impressed

the beach houses in pic 8 look terrible as do many other things ...

While it could be fun, the shading engine doesn't really have a lot going on - the lighting's flat and overly bright and the textures are fairly basic. It looks a lot like a bunch of models maneuvering around rather than actual craft. There's just not much atmosphere.

Probably the best ocean water I've seen!

these are not the final graphics !
I saw it in action, and it's looking really nice, the water is much better than this, the buildings have new textures, great bump maps, and it has some really nice post effects!
But the main thing is, that the game itself is very addictive! I'm eagerly waiting for the final version :) Coming in October.....

About the game

What's up?
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX And they have their own stories to tell, their own games to design. If they're making a new film in a franchise you enjoy, do you also not care who makes it? (14 minutes ago)
  • MrWhite
MrWhite Yeah, I wouldn't want Naughty Dog anywhere near Half Life. They'd turn it into a generic and linear run of the mill action shooter that looks good, but overrated. (16 minutes ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX It's not like those people working on this imaginary game aren't working on other real games instead anyway. Nothing is lost. (26 minutes ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX And I don't prefer to have "nothing" because I bother to recognize Valve's actual game development. (27 minutes ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX "I don't care who develops it" is a really weird thing for a person who cares about games to say. (28 minutes ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX But I understand that thought process in today's highly branded market. Gotta have that franchise name attached to a product to care about it. (29 minutes ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX @Sdarts: No, I prefer creators keep their content to themselves instead of farming it out to third parties because it's a terrible way to make video games. (29 minutes ago)
