One of the biggest titles of Konami for this year is without a doubt the promising Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, which the trailer is after the jump. The game is coming this fall.
I was interested in the game before, i wasn't going to get it at release or anything, but i wanted to see more. Suddenly i want it NOW. Talk about a trailer that sells the game :P
Dark atmosphere, fantastic art design (love Gabriel's look. western Dante DMC), fantastic visuals, music is breathtaking, voice acting being top notch...I can go on.
What I am trying to say is, the game looks fantastic, it could take over NG as a favorite of mine.
Trailer was Epic for sure.
However...
Combat, there is ONE thing I disliked from what I saw in the demo videos.
Some of the attacks you do against a object or enemy, the characters animations stop for a moment and then continues. There is this "lag" in animation on some of the attacks and that is so annoying!
Even God of War 3 had this...it is from time to time, but keeps seeing it just gets frustuating and looks unpolished.
I dont understand why they do this, if it is even on purpose or not, it breaks the fluidness of the movement.
That is the only thing I didnt like about, something tells me they wont fix this.
But everything else is super top notch IMO, but that problem isnt a gamebreaker for me.
Annoying yes, gamebreaker absolutely not.
God of War felt more like Rygar and Shadow of the Colossus, whats your point?
My point as i previously say is - this doesn't feel like Castlevania game at all. Too tired to play the same action-adventure titles over and over again. Just with different characters and story.
But be happy with LOS man. That is just my opinion. :)
This genre is lacking in comparison with all the shooters out there, and I LOVE these type of games because I love fantasy settings and universes.
So as long as these type of games are coming in I am happy, even if it plays the same with a original twist.
IMO, Castlevania appeals to me more than God of War ever has, art design, story and even main character.
They said this is a remake of Castlevania to relaunch the series in 3D, exactly like Ninja Gaiden from 2D.
But unlike Ninja Gaiden, these guys plan on using refrences and stuff that you remember from the classic version into this new version.
And yes, they are even remaking some of the classic music tunes into orchestra, like Bionic Commando, and listening to the old tunes in orchestra gave me gossebumps.

Besides if you "plan" on commenting on the "chain attacks" sorry but Rygar AND Castlevania was way ahead of God of War with that.
I dont understand when people say "GoW clone" when GoW is as much of a clone of another game :P

Rygar was an amazing game,loved it...and GOW was a lot like Rygar...but again,it's a type of game,and I am happy when games come out in my favorite kind of genre :)

They will have refrences on enemies and other stuff, and remake some classic famous Castlevania tracks into orchestra, those type of stuff.
But sure avoid it because it has "nothing" to do with "Castlevania".
You are probably going to miss a awesome title.
