Microsoft's media briefing was the occasion to show the first time ever gameplay of Modern Warfare 2. The game is, as usual, stunning, thanks to its top notch production and frantic rhythm. Please note that this is only the first part of the gameplay phase ; part two is coming up soon !

I think my favorite part was when they jumped down that hill and instead of running down the hill, the player rolled. The character animation was excellent as they were rolling and then firing back toward the top.

Subtle things like that impress me.

Not as good as COD:MW gameplay from sniper stage, with grass camuflage etc . Quite dissapointing choice to show gameplay from rather boring snow stage...anyway thumbs up for SP story.

Couldnt agree with you more, I love it when games companies go the extra mile adding animations like that when he could quite have easily just walked down that hill.

Im really impressed with this game footage, feels very similar to COD4 which cant be a bad thing!

Doesn't look that much better then CoD:MW, if at all tbh..

I guess we'll have to wait until the next gen consoles to see the next big step in graphics etc.. Physics is also a thing the CoD engine is lacking a bit, I hope IW are working on that..

Other then that it's up to the CoD standards, very good productional value's, with solid SP and MP experiences.. I'll probably buy it again (on PC)..

But I'm more excited about Forza 3, which looks way more a very good evolution of a game on the same old hardware..

As I imagined, the step on in visuals for this game will not be how it looks from an aesthetic standpoint persey, but the scale and scope of things. For example, look at the beginning of the video; how you get a sense of scale of the mountains once that jet rushes past into the distance. It gives a great feeling of cinematic emmersion. The animations have also been drastically improved judging by how that soldier took out the icepick and started to climb the cliff. It looked very fluid and extremely natural and realistic, as if it were a real person.

The big thing for me IW needs to do is improve the physics. I could be wrong, but it looks as if they have worked on this. The part where they jump down the hill and turn to start shooting the soldiers at the top, they all seem to die different as they fall over the edge and land before rolling down a bit on the hill. If that's just scripted, then it's disappointing.

Wow. the first video was a complete waste of time.

Second video was much more interesting though. The Aliens-esque motion tracker seemed a bit out of place though. Am I crazy or do those not exist yet?

BTW, Soaps voice seems weird to me. After not hearing him at all in the first game, this voice just seems weird.

Its entirely possible its mocapped. Many of the animations look that way to me.
