I think it's safe to say that we went out of the Microsoft press conference very impressed by all the announcements and famous guests. While waiting for more of our videos, here are some photos taken from our seats.

The most important thing was lacking.. the games. There were only 2 new ones from Microsoft revealed correct? and they were both in CGI trailer form.

announced a new metal gear and also showed of what seems to me to be an amazing innovation in games interaction... MS really out done themselves this year...also 1080p direct streaming....thats impressive...and then sky tv
so so so much
COD4? i think you mean modern warfare 2 - which isnt by Microsoft.
Niether is metal gear solid.
Microsoft revealed TWO new games .. Crackdown2, and a new forza. And as far as i'm aware they revealed them in just cgi trailers.

but for me it was a very impressive presentation....overall

The entire conference from beginning to end was highly entertaining (something most E3 conferences in recent years, clearly are not). And by the time it was over, you hardly realized that two whole hours had passed.
More announcements that are coming from Microsoft at E3, like their new feature on LIVE, that will allow you to purchase and download entire Xbox 360 games from Marketplace, GTA IV: The Ballad of Gay Tony, and the Monkey Island remix which is also exclusive to 360, clearly illustrate that there is a lot more that Microsoft could have shown at their conference this morning, but did not because of time constraints. I am beginning to suspect that had they honestly showed everything, the conference may have lasted for three hours. Expect more announcements out of Microsoft over the next three days, and there is still the Zune HD announcement coming up on the 8th (rumored to bring Hulu to Zune HD and 360, as well LIVE Arcade games to Zune). Seriously, if there really was a problem with Microsoft's conference this morning, is that the company has far too many announcements to make to fit them all into a single two hour press event. Makes you miss the days of the X0 press events in the fall.
The most impressive thing at the show, and likely to be the most impressive thing at all of E3, was Lionhead's Milo. Milo may only be an in-house tech demo at Lionhead, but it was realtime. And the sheer magnitude that it represents to the future of gaming, is potentially staggering. I have said that motion control, no matter how you gained your motion control, was complete bullshit until someone found something truly innovative to do with it. Milo clearly is one such innovations in motion control, and stands at the moment, as the only 'killer ap' in all of videogaming as proof of motion controls as the possible future for games.
Probably the one thing at the presser that was the absolute most exciting thing for me, and I am sure is the least talked about item from Microsoft's press briefing, is EPIC/Chair Entertainment's Shadow Complex. I am a complete nut for Super Metroid (SNES), and a total whore for anything Flashback: The Quest for Identity (SegaCD), a game that I have waited almost 20 years for a sequel or spiritual successor to. Shadow Complex appears to embody in itself, everything that made Super Metroid and Flashback, such classic videogames. You'd probably have to be completely old school to even care about something like that. I just know along with the Monkey Island remix, Shadow Complex will be my most sought after game from E3 . . . so far.
Anyway, I am outta here. Off to play some 1 vs. 100.

And finally, technology has catched up to Molyneux's visions. After countless desperate attempts at emotion in games (Populus, Black & White, Fable), perhaps this time they will succeed. Because that tech was stunning.

Probably the single most positive feeling that I came away from the Microsoft presser feeling, was the actual desire to buy almost every game they presented there, on day one.
I have been renting almost all of my games for quite some time now. And I know that I may be a bit (in)famous here at Gamersyde for really promoting renting (especially with an all-you-can-eat service like GameFly), over purchasing at full price. And for good reason, most game simply are not worth a full $60 purchase, and the $25/month at GameFly gets a gamer so much more bang for buck. However all that said, I still could not help walking away from the Microsoft press briefing wanting to buy most of the games that were shown at the briefing - Shadow Complex, Splinter Cell: Conviction, Crackdown 2, Halo 3: ODST and Left 4 Dead 2 are all day one purchases. The Beatles Rock Band (I am such a total schmuck for The Beatles) is a day one purchase. I don't have any musical peripherals yet (from either Guitar Hero or Rock Band), however a Beatles themed set, is what has finally pushed me into getting into the entire plastic air band nonsense that is taking the rest of the world by storm; so it is the deluxe bundle for me. And finally, Forza Motorsport 3 is also a day one purchase, so long as I can come up with the cash to get the game and one of these, which were just officially announced at E3 yesterday. Yes, I know they cost $480, but then that is just one more reason why it pays to rent the games that are truly not worth $60 - the money you save, you can buy the things that are really worth it. A professional caliber wireless racing wheel and pedals, to go with the "definitive racing game this generation," sounds like a match made in gaming heaven to me.
