Wonder what made them decide to give him melee weapons.

Doesn't this game take place in a city loosely modeled after New Orleans? Now I don't know much about New Orleans, but that last pic isn't really how I picture it...

looks pretty cool, I liked the first one

looks awesome. clearly not legit screens, but the first game loked great so i expect the second to look better. if it's using MSAA that GOW3 used tho, then it can easily look this smooth.

could be MSAA which is actually better IQ than 16xAA. Just sayin' yo!

No it can't, no way in hell: http://imgur.com/0EH0w.jpg

if this was coming for PC, then yhea... in some PC, you could acheive that IQ, not on console.

you dont seem to understand the awesome-sauce achievable with MSAA. it's beyond that of traditional 16xAA on PC, and less expensive for the processor.

i have no doubt these are fake shots. no doubt rendered at a higher res and re-sized to 720x1280. but as far as the general smoothness of the image goes, it's perfectly achievable using MSAA. GOW3 prooved that. LBP2 is showing that, as is killzone 2. MSAA is the way to go for AA. you either have traditional 4xAA if you're lucky, or you have the equivilent of something beyond that of 16xAA. i know which one i'd pick if i was making a game.

Infamous was surprisingly one of my favorite games on the PS3!!! I am so looking forward to Infamous 2, even though ditching Cole feels like a miss!

First of all, GoW 3 was no where NEAR that smooth. So whatever the hell you mean by "general smoothness", you need to shove it somewhere else, because that could mean half as smooth for all I know. Also, no, it really isn't. This game has too much going on on screen to look that smooth, in fact, just about any game does. It's not going to look this smooth. Not that it is important, but there is no need to make vague and inaccurate statements. Screen shots are no good at showing how good a game looks beyond giving you a general idea. There is no motion blur, it's a static image, its just not going to look like this in motion even IF it was rendered like this. It doesn't matter.
And also, most of the games you noted had pretty decent edges, but were far from PC levels. Sorry mate.

Man this guy is picking on every PS exclusive.
awwww bless.. man up soldier!

This was another of the disappoints of E3 to me..the ingame stuff looked abit ropely (nothing like the screens) but ofcourse it's a long way off. What disappointed was their insistance to replace one version of Cole with a completely generic looking version of him. Whats the point of passing him off as the same character when it looks nothing like the original..and is even voiced by a different guy?

I'm certainly not a big fan of the new cole the more i see. As for the graphics debate I think we all agree that these are enhanced pics but almost all games do this so who gives a shit really. And the first game looked really nice IMO so i'm sure the second one will look even better.

My concern is if it will be more fun than the first game. The first game had a ton a really awesome ideas and started off as one of my favorite superhero games in a long time, but the lack of variety really started to hurt the game (as is how I feel w/ just about all sandbox games) and by the end of it I was just playing to finish it.

But it did have some really clever missions and the enemies did have a pretty interesting challenge in some parts.

If they can improve the mission variety and make the second one feel more dynamic all the way through the game I'll be pretty interested. The movements from building to building was really great though. I will say, the first couple hours felt really great though, they just need to figure out how to make that feeling last through the whole game. for me at least.

Someone didn't play GoW3?? There were no jaggies while playing... if there were you are zooming in with a microscope to see them.

Looks awesome. While AA is off the charts and fake, the assets used are their current game assets. Considering that they are still more than a year away from releasing the title, it looks quite impressive.

For whatever reason, Jason Cottle the original voice actor isn't doing the voice anymore, however his look was also in the character's face in the first game. If they were to use his look again, there is a possability the developers would need to pay him money, so along with the new voice actor, who's pretty close to Jason's voice in InFamous, they need to update the look as well.

to be honest i really dont get the appeal of the first. I've just started playing it as it's a very unpolished game..not just the poor visuals, but the structure/pacing .. it has a rushed feel about it. Though i do need to make allowences that i am only at the very start.

I dont know how the story evolves and the note it ends on.. so without giving away any spoilers, is there no way that rather than placing Cole in a different skin and voice they couldnt introduce a new character as the hero/anti hero?

No, you'll see why if you finish the game.

Hahaha Beyond 16xAA.

Maybe you should read about it before talkning. It around 4xSAA and then MLAA has no sub pixle detection. MLAA can produce somewhere between 4x-8xMSAA.

So no, these screens are too smooth for MLAA.

Still, MLAA is by far the best AA tech on console today.
Commented on 2010-06-20 16:15:27
I'm fortunate enough to have a PC that can run most games (not Crysis) at high levels of AA and these shots look equivalent to edge detect 8X SSAA, something that will NEVER be possible on current consoles.

God of War 3 and it's implementation of MLAA was not jaggie free but it is a very efficient AA method that is more than enough to satisfy most people, and currently the best quality console AA available.

Ultimately though, people should have learnt a long time ago that many screenshots are manipulated to look better than they will on your TV screens.

Shouldn't we be talking about other things like, oh I don’t know the game itself rather than bitching about whether the screenshots are tweaked or not, of course they bloody are, everything is these days. Deal with it.

Just look at the shots and use a bit of imagination to guess how they will look in reality. I'm sure you can do that, can't you?

The new character design is awful, he looks like a cocky/snotty kid who needs nothing more than a good punch to the teeth.

Sucker Punch are aware that people don't like his new look and have heavily hinted that it will likely be redesigned again before the game is finished. I don't really have a problem with it as is but whatever.

No Cole - No Infamous 2.

What the heck was wrong with Cole? The partner in crime (can't remember name) looks the same why change Cole?

Cole's original design was awful, lets not kid ourselves. Looks exactly like nathan hale from resistance only wearing a dirt bike jacket. Also his voice actor sucked beyond belief. A redesign was warranted and frankly had to happen. They said they are aware of the hate for the new change and we'll probably see a revised new look soon. I think it'd be perfectly fine just lose the tattoos... seriously.

About the game

What's up?
  • droezelke
droezelke WD2 is more fun than WD1, but it's so easy. Also, the main quests are 'meh'. WD1 had a more focussed story. The story in WD2 is uninspired. (1 Hour ago)
  • droezelke
droezelke @Sdarts: Don't forget that people are getting sick of CoD, they didn't trust WD anymore after the first. Dishonored 2 got too little PR according to me. (1 Hour ago)
  • Moonwalker
Moonwalker quests, which is a goddamn shame, a goddamn shame. For sure they could have come up with some meaningful side quests with at least a story. (2 Hours ago)
  • Moonwalker
Moonwalker Definitely enjoying FFXV more but I am solely talking about the story missions, some good diversity there. I also really like the Chocobos. Just such a shame that the side quests truly are all fetch (2 Hours ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX I just think it's a pretty bad sign if a new game can't generate interest on a free weekend. The fact that there are other new games is not a very compelling excuse imo. (4 Hours ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX Black Ops is also the most popular Call of Duty sub-brand now. (4 Hours ago)
  • Sdarts
Sdarts Also, even WD2 and Dishonered 2 sold much less than the previous games in their series. Same for CoD:IW, very few games that got released this Holiday season sold more than their predecessors. (4 Hours ago)
