E3: New screens of The Witcher 3

E3: New screens of The Witcher 3

Monster Leshen hidden in the murky woods, sirens turned into flying creatures and the city of Novigrad, that's what is depicted among other things in the new gallery of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. CD Projekt Red's title will release in 2014 for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

To be honest, I don't like the graphics in W3. Everything is somehow "grainy" and lightning seems very "flat" compared to real next-gen games like MGS V etc. Also the faces and skin don'y look very good...

Looks great, can't wait to play this. I really hope the open world approach pays off, because the limited exploration in Witcher 2 was, along with teh crap combat balance, my main gripe about the game.

MGS5, a game that's coming out for current gen platforms is a "real next-gen game", but Witcher 3 isn't? I don't follow.

You can't be serious... This is one of the best looking games out there...

What a fantastic series. Every sequel seems to dwarf the predecessor

That's still 2 excellent games in the bag. Perfect track record so far in other words.

Wait, I thought this was Xbonx One and PC only? Has it been confirmed for PS4 as well??

Maybe you got me wrong ;) What I mean is when you look at the scope of the games it is amazing how they evolved. From isometric top down, to a mass effect like third person game to now apparently completely open world game similar to Red Dead Redemption.

Since when was The Witcher an isometric top-down game? The first one was also third person (over the shoulder type camera)...Also if it's anything like Red Dead Redemption i'll kill myself with the bust of Geralt from my CE edition of Witcher 2 :P

It's a scope kinda game. When you look at the vistas in the game, it looks spectacular. Also keep in mind these games take FOREVER to take, similar to the Bethesda RPGs. So this has been kicking around for a while, and it shouldn't be surprising that it doesn't quite have all of the fancy stuff of the linear small scale next gen games. Comparing this to something like the Remedy game is sort of like comparing Crysis 3 to Fallout 3.
The only thing I don't like about the engine is that fucking sharpen filter. Sharpen filters should be destroyed, they aren't any good and it's not even the proper way to sharpen an image. I think this looks pretty sharp, especially given the size and seamlessness of the world.

I think it looks awesome, but I agree that it is kinda over-sharpened and over-saturated. MGS5 looks much more subtle and... realistic. Also, Final Fantasy XV looks surprisingly spectacular.

What are talking about? This was first announced for PC and "next-gen platforms." Then it was confirmed for PS4 when that was announced. Lastly, it was confirmed for Xbox One.

Have you guys watched the E3 trailer?

To me it was one of the most impressive titles. They show Geralt galloping on horseback through various open landscapes where the draw distances look insanely far (seriously, like 100 miles), and the whole open water thing, mermaids swimming up next to your sailboat (Geralt will definitely get his bone on in this game too LOL!).

Also towards the end of the trailer they show him walking into a HUGE city...and i mean HUGE. The scope of the city literally looked like it was the size of the entire Witcher 2 game. Combat looks flawless, and silky smooth aswell. Watching him fight those flying creatures as they swooped in to attack him was awesome.

This game is Day 1 buy for me. I hadnt played any of them, and randomly picked up the Witcher 2, just because i heard the GFX (on PC) were some of the best out and could push your system. And i was impressed. I definitely wont be able to play this on my current rig, thats for sure.

When I saw the burning village for the first time, I was like WTF?! Amazing. One of the best graphics of E3 for sure.

Overhaul the combat into better than what Witcher 2 was, and i will definitely get this.

Wasn't third person added with that big update the game received?

No, pretty sure it was there all along.

This is going to be one of the best games. They are slowly getting popular which they deserve :)

droezelke WD2 is more fun than WD1, but it's so easy. Also, the main quests are 'meh'. WD1 had a more focussed story. The story in WD2 is uninspired. (3 Hours ago)
  • droezelke
droezelke @Sdarts: Don't forget that people are getting sick of CoD, they didn't trust WD anymore after the first. Dishonored 2 got too little PR according to me. (3 Hours ago)
  • Moonwalker
Moonwalker quests, which is a goddamn shame, a goddamn shame. For sure they could have come up with some meaningful side quests with at least a story. (4 Hours ago)
  • Moonwalker
Moonwalker Definitely enjoying FFXV more but I am solely talking about the story missions, some good diversity there. I also really like the Chocobos. Just such a shame that the side quests truly are all fetch (4 Hours ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX I just think it's a pretty bad sign if a new game can't generate interest on a free weekend. The fact that there are other new games is not a very compelling excuse imo. (6 Hours ago)
