I think it looks ok, they REALLY need to fix that floaty feel though. Takes away from the visceral feeling...

Sooooo generic looking. Destruction looked nice, though.

i think it looks nice visual..very clean, and impressive destruction. But i definatly agree that theres a bad floaty "feel" to it..and looks quite boring really.

For a game called "bodycount" i was expecting boarderlands stats and numbers flying everywhere

Isn't this the sorta semi-sequel to Black? That game wasn't very good.

Is Cop Killer gonna be the theme song for the game?

Ice-T bitches.

And this is the same developer that said Killzone 2 was crap?

Looks like they were all talk. I know its pre-alpha but that looked like a PSN/XBLA game.

If you're naming your game Bodycount there should at least be an on-screen bodycount-counter!

Black was good in it's day but I have to say that this game does not even look anywhere near as good. I guess the entire Criterion team as opposed to one former member makes a large difference.

Not much hope for this unless massive improvements happen in both graphical and gameplay departments, kind of looks like the shit on Bulletstorms's bloodstained boots...

You should appreciate the honesty of the developers releasing pre-alpha gameplay footage. Most other devs would release bullshots at this point of production.
Keep in mind that most textures and models are likely to be placeholders and that the game is far from being feature complete, a lot will change in the coming months.

I can't compare it to other games since I rarely see unscripted pre-alpha footage but I interpret it as the devs feeling confident about how the game looks in this stage. If they had problems, they could have released some photoshop bullshots.

well, this isn't killzone, albeit it looks like it t play.

The worst is yhe unispired look and th explosions aren't all that greta after a generation of Bad Company and Red faction: Guerilla. They are underwhelming at best.

True that. That game was like a tech demo to show what were capable xbox/ps2. Still remember these boring and unskippable cutscenes, argh. -_-

As long as they add more destructible objects in Bodycount - this again will be the best thing about their game...

MetaCritic is such a crutch. It was below average. Hell, the 1up, Gamespot, EGM reviews on that link all agree!

There were some great FPS games to play in 2006. We had games like Halo 2, Half Life 2, Call of Duty 2 and Battlefield 2 for more than a year (or two in some cases). We had the 360 launched too! Black was ultimately garbage next to the best in genre titles that came out surrounding its release. The game really wasn't very good, and since this game wants to be its sequel, I expect it will follow in its footsteps.

i personally don't think they should have used the EGO engine. Unreal Engine 3 or Cryengine 3 would have been much better choices. Suppose it was a money saving thing, sign up with Code Masters to publish the title and get to use the EGO engine for free.

you know i never thought how being able to lean any direction you wanted would affect some gameplay...but this video showed me otherwise. I'm curious now and this IS pre alpha....i might keep an eye on this one

Am I missing something here?
Didn't Criterion make Black?

Codemasters is a whole other development team.

I see. Thanks Wikipedia. It's not the entire that made Black, just "many" of the same people are. Whatever the hell "many means".

from Wikipedia

"In a recent interview, co-creator and designer Stuart Black revealed that plans for "Black 2" were underway, but are now scrapped due to differences with Electronic Arts. Currently, Stuart Black and many of the developers of Black are now working on "Bodycount", a "spiritual successor" to the game which will be developed by Codemasters and released on the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 during Q1 2011."

I probably would have scrapped it to.

Moonwalker You mean the choices where you could either drop i think it was Ivan and things like that? I liked that. (11 minutes ago)
  • JMadden
JMadden ... if they could make it work well. I think THAT is the "Bold, new direction" that Houser spoke of when the game was announced. (12 minutes ago)
  • JMadden
JMadden (late, I know) I actually think R* north might go with giving the player a lot of choices throughout the game. Think about it, in IV they seemed to be testing the waters with a choice system to see... (14 minutes ago)

Moonwalker @GriftGFX: That's true too, but GR is still tactical by the sounds of it and that makes me happy. Destructoid actually gave it a 9 (26 minutes ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX @Moonwalker: That's a little suspect, since standing out in the open in either of those other games will get you killed pretty quickly too. Using cover is a bread and butter FPS skill set. (47 minutes ago)
