Xbox 360

D3 has updated the Earth Defense Force X web site with this new trailer, that I've of course captured and converted to something less annoying that flash streaming. Looks like a lot of fun!

uhm, dont know what to say... Some of it looks like a lot of fun, and the opening bit is cool and all... but.... There's something telling me this could be something to be best avoided.

Nonetheless, it looks much better than last time I saw it.

I have the second game for PS2. It's definitely a lot of mindless fun...like a 3rd person Smash TV. I have to admit that fighting giant ants and spiders was pretty creepy for me and there's always so many of them coming at you from all directions. You'll be constantly spinning the camera around trying to watch your back, and turn around just in time to see some giant spider about to jump on you and you just let loose with your machine gun...it's very satisfying in a B-movie sort of way. That said, it does get repetitive and it's pretty shallow seeing as it was a budget title. This 3rd one looks so much better graphically, and the new AI partners and vehicles look like a lot of fun.

this game looks strange, but could be much fun.

the ants look cool and the spiders blasting their webs look hilarious. ;)

the enemies in this game just look like a huge mixup of starships, mechs, dragons and mutated insects. hehe.

oh yeah, and the game supports splitscreen... what i really like.

and i really have no idea yet what to think of this game. ;)

now that looks like a LOT of fun!

between this and Oneechanbara, D3 just might make a splash on the Xbox 360.

We need some more unique titles...I'm sick of all the Halo clones that are coming out.

I might grab the PS2 version and give it a try

I hope this is region free! I want this game alot. The scale of those enemies is ridiculous. It's like watching an old Giant Monster movie :P.

Indeed, it looks like one of those weird Japanese hero movies, and I believe that's their intention. Simple, crazy fun saving the world from Alien Insect invasion!!!

Great explosions. Just hope the finished game will have shadows. Even better, self shadowing

That's what I thought, too, but I saw something interesting in this trailer.

A couple times you can see a character with a speaker icon over his head, that you normally see next to a player's name when they're speaking on Xbox Live.

It would seem weird to me if they used an icon to tell you that an NPC is speaking in a game like this. But I don't want to assume that it means they were showing online players either. I'm not sure what to make of that.

Anybody else notice this?

There are times where I just want to kick it and have some crazy mindless fun. And not pay out the nose for it. This game seems to fit the shoe perfectly. Now hoping for a stateside release or no region locking.

I had the same impression too. Unfortunately their site doesn't contain any useful info. We do know it's 1-2 players but not to the exclusion of online play. I guess we'll just have to wait to find out.

I do hope it does have online play, as this game would kick ass, I would definitely take this over Phantasy Star Universe
