Elder Scrolls: Oblivion: 8 720p images

PC Xbox 360

The german site PCgames.de put up the following screens from The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. They are all heavely compressed and looks a little bit wierd, but you can still see the wonderful graphics. Can't wait for this one!
Update: 2K Games asked me to remove the images. Sorry.

I really don't know. They were taken off from the frontpage at that site and from the game info page at the site aswell (but on the other hand, my german isn't that good). Hopefully Bethesda will release these at the real resolution and quality soon.

I don't think this game will look as good as everyone thinks it will when it comes out. When you think about it, this is just a current-gen PC port rather than a game that's designed to max out the 370's hardware. It still looks better than most of the crap we've seen of the 360 so far though.

that texture filtering looks horrible in some of the photos. they should not have released this images yet.

That isn't the texture filtering, it's the JPEG artifacting caused by heavy compression.

He's right. Look at the seventh screenshot: you can clearly see trilinear filtering on the floor.

Yes, this is a PC port, and no it doesn't look "truly next gen". I don't even know how that's a complaint. It looks pretty, but it's clearly PC pretty, not 360 pretty, that should definitely be a good thing.

Most of you dumb-o's complain about complainers, the truth is, companies aren't trying hard enough. People like you keep sticking with anything. It's time to boost up our expectations and expect games with extremely high end graphics. Wake up and smell the fresh air.

I hardly think that's the problem anymore. It takes an insane amount of time to even concieve a game like this, let alone getting all the graphic detail in there. Games today take longer to make, are more expensive than ever and thus are a bigger gamble for companies. These Elder Scrolls games will always be primarily PC titles, and the fact that they don't look as good as something built from the ground up on a console is just something people gotta accept. Now more than ever.

I'm not complaining, mind. I'm just being realistic.

When did these boards become invaded by mindless graphic whores who have absolutely no clue what they're talking about? TES4 is by far one of the best looking next games, maybe you guys should get a clue and watch some videos and read some info on how big the world is and how many things are going on at once before making yourselves look like clueless trolls.

Most of the negative talking people cant even draw really if you cant create things that look this nice yourself dont talk negative about it.Most of what you see in games is art if its not to your likeing just dont play it! Graphics aint everything just be glad your not playing with PONG graphics. People work hard to make the best game they can with the money & time that they have. And if you feel they didnt work hard enough on the graphics oh well you try to make it better and lets see how it looks. Man these haters talk too much about GRAPHICS!

WHAT the graphics in TES4 look amazing to me, and it's not just about the graphics anyway's it's about the actuall gameplay.

Overall, don't treat THIS game as high end, but it's definitly not low end as well,
but keep in mind that as technology is there, we should expect better and better graphics.

Overall, don't treat THIS game as high end, but it's definitly not low end as well,

I don't get what everyone is so upset about really. I've been drawing all my life, but what has that got to do with anything? Videos? Yeah, I've watched videos, and not taking into consideration that the world is huge in this game (going back to what I said earlier about this game being insanely big and therefore even from a gameplay standpoint a colossal amount of work) a game like Gears of War is more immediately visually striking. It IS, you can't argue with that.

Please don't forget that we are talking about a lot of new technology for these developers to learn.

Along with the multi-core programming (which MUST be efficient) they have to work with a unified shader pipeline for the first time.

Give them a chance to learn how these things work best and the launch games will look like Munch's Oddysee in comparison to Conker when the next wave of games hit.

Exactly. And judge by games built from the ground up on 360 hardware instead. That'll be more accurate.

Although MS are really pimping this cross platform development stuff with XNA I guess.
